Hey, all! I'm pretty new to 2238, so I guess this is as good a place as any to introduce myself with a canon related topic....
So yeah, I've uber played every Fallout game, and I'm a huge fan of the whole IP, Beth non-withstanding. I've also brainstored just about all of the story info about the series, and from what I have seen from 2238 so far, is strong justice done.
But I had a small 4th wall hicup. Why are there so many damn ghouls in Necropolis?
According to cannon, during or just after the events of Fallout 1, Necropolis is sacked by the Master's Army and all of it's residence that didn't flee were slain. Necropolis was litteraly a ghost town, no one there. Then, according to the events of Fallout 2, a small Ghoul caravan came to the empty Necropolis to scav and make a new home. After much deliberation and a surge of newly created ghouls (always wondered if these were FEV ghouls or just a party of adventurers caught in a serious rad storm), the caravan decided to start a Great Exodus, going on to found Broken Hills, the Glow, and Gecko, leaving Necropolis empty once again.
So according to your timeline, Necropolis would be empty as a hole, so why all the ghouls? I mean, as far as towns go, its pretty useless, not even a shop. One perk, thats all. why is it still here. I understand keeping the integrity of the Fallout 1&2 world, but imo it shouldn't even be on the map.
-
Yeah, it's a pretty featureless location. But it also does have a shop and it also has a holy person that sells the purple robes. There are various places, for the sake of gameplay, where it isn't 100% canon. Getting rid of a map just because it isn't totally canon certainly isn't a good solution. That's my opinion, at least.
-
Aparently I missed the shop. To bad too, I had a retard amount of fruit.
But, I can definatly see why it was left in the game. It was probebly my favorite location from F1, just because it had such an evil atmosphere, more so even than the Enclave base. But I think at least some of the ghouls should high-tail it out of there. I mean, the town is considered unguarded, except for the Catherdral, so you really don't need all of these NPC's standing around, yelling 'Hey Smoothskin'.
Canonicly the Catherdral portion of Necropolis makes sense, but there wouldn't be any ghouls there either, as the Master's little religeon revered 'pure' humans.

make necropolis TC type of town, the only one in the south

And in what ghouls could pay you? water?

And in what ghouls could pay you? water?
Just some suggestions;
Robes, junk, electronic parts, metal, alloys, high quality metal, high quality alloys, caps, water bags

A new TC spot would make more sense. As it stands, its basicly just a rat infested sewer. Plus I think the whole sewer travel element would make the TC there super intense. Or a lot of fools camping in a random corner all day. You win some, you lose some...
Maybe hand out Gatekeeper robes to high control factions?

TC spot with people going there for shopping-Gangs trying to monopolize it to use purple robes as distinctive trait.Sweet!!
-
It would be nice to have also a ghoul merc seller, like Gecko. I understand why Broken Hill is an exclusive recruiting spot, but ghouls are not so claimed...
TC town seems fine, at Set's location for instance. I will bring new kind of players there. Or maybe invite southern players to do some tc...
-
You can already "TC" necropolis. It is unguarded. Just stand there and shoot unarmed bluesuits checking out the place.

Would be great to place a ghoul merc seller in the hotel.
-
TC isn't PKing. I've done a few TCs, especially in Gecko were we would let the random blues in to quest and the like, but nerf other armed chars.
Seriously blah, your the reason newbs quit so fast. If anything wanton killing of innocent players is a drain on your resorces. The point of TC is a reward for control the area.
Oh, and yeah, after my nuts being shot off by more than one Ghoul Crazy, I would just fracking love to pwn with a Ghoul Sniper merc...
-
Previous season's TC was "shoot everything that moves in city" and I'm strongly opposed to adding it to necropolis. It would just add incentive to kill bluesuits.

This season only SOT are mindless killers.
-
Well, at least post-wipe, if you belong to an NPC faction, hurting or killing you drops their rep for that city/faction. A little bigger repricussion than a dead blue swearing at you.
-
I like you're point on Necropolis, never thought of it but makes sense. I think a Southern town TC would be great...mix up the fights, everything is so concentrated in the north for bases/factions for PVP.
-
Kinda off point of canon or not. Right now there isn't the player base needed to make what cities we have fun for TC, no real need to dilute the pvp base into yet another town to vie for there influence. Actually with the player base hovering around max 200 players (generally I see 50-80, realistically, I'm just being extremely generous) it would make more sense to actually consolidate TC into fewer cities to make them more hotly contested. I would remove all but say 2 towns from TC. It would be very simple, just remove the tc chest, they can remain unprotected.

Still there is one problem, how they'll pay you, because cathedral is too big faction to praise other nabzors, they got their own guards, and hi-tech weapons, so I don't think they'll pay, as then for ghouls... they got waterpump (probably broken) and some spears, you want still to get those rewards?

They live in a ruined city, they must be able to salvage stuff.

Sell spears in junktown for 60 caps :D

What about armors for ghouls and muties ? ::)

What about armors for ghouls and muties ? ::)
What does that have with TC in Necro?
If you mean't implementing animations from FT to get use of some armors and weapons for ghouls and muties, then you are wrong, devs don't want that (as its possible).
-
Implement TC in Glow, now that will be fun! ;D
Or implement San Diego aka. Dayglow.
It's canon, there went the about a half of all ghouls from Necropolis, it could be mapped up completely TC-PvP-oriented from scratch, since noone knows how it looks and it's in South.
Would it be clever to disregard such a great opportunity?
-

If you read the canon of Necro, or even finished F1, you would know that most energy and water tech in California and Nevada comes from the Ghoul caravans stripping Necropolis completely, bringing back untold knowledge back to the wastes. And according to Chris Avalone, that included a surplus or Energy and Plasma based weaponry as well as previously unheard of Vault-Tec.
So it wouldn't be to far out of the way to suggest scrap electronics, laser pistols and rifles, maybe a plasma pistol now and then. But yeah all junk and scrap would be fair game.
But I think the Glow would be fun to...
Yeah though, I agree with such a small active player-base, that so many TC bases is fairly impractical.
-
Don't care about animation.
I just proposed to give more resistance to them.
(their hp drop very fast, right now)
