We all know how many 1 cha builds there are running around since its such a useless statistic and mentats are a pain to get every time you want to talk to a vendor or do a quest so why not have beer add +1 cha -1 pe? This way you could drink 2 beers and be able to chat while still having neg repercussions.

Does booze make you an addict over time ?
If not , this must be implemented too, if you give this suggestion a try

addictions are all chance rolls, not an "over time" situation.

booze never adds charisma for one who drinks it... he just see world from pretty side ;P

wrong some people when drunk start talk like hell (some of my friends can be example) :p so beer +1 charisma concept is not that stupid to me ;D also beer is alcochol so addiction is must be possible ofc not that high like in other "stronger stuff" cases but still...

and yes for the +1CH -1PE but only if is a non-accumulative bonus. so only would be used for 2 CH players.

Just don't make a 1 CHA character, it's the point of game balance. Since it's temporary 1 CHA can serve you much better than -1 PE (1 CHA = Buying/trading/getting professions, -1 PE = sitting out of fighting until it wears off, -1 PE isn't even that critical). Maybe with a perk (Drunken Master, for example), but not for normal.
I know it's the concept of Dutch Courage, but it just won't work. Stick to mentats.

yes skejwen charisma IS about talkin shit to people so they like u much,trust u and other bulshit :P Think about all this politicians who talk without sense but people lisent them. They can be a main example of people with high charisma without brain ;D

As for Beer itself, I imagine something will be done with it at some stage, +1Ch seems reasonable ... for part of its effect anyway

Extra damage resistance would be better. Anything that makes 1 Charisma powerbuilds more viable isn't so good.

you have mentats for that.
alcohol is very easy to obtain, if alcohol will give +2CH no one will make 3 cha players anymore.
but still i think is very reasonable that alcohol increase CH:
- increased self-confidence and courage
- increased sociability

maybe would be implemented a system for alcohol consumption.
EN will determine the max alcohol in blood for a character.
0.05%-0.11%: +1CH, -1PE
0.12%-0.22%: -1AG, -1PE, +10 Damage Resistance (will change the words that the char say, add *hip* and some other drunk sounds)
0.23%-0.31% -2IN -2 CH -1 PE chance to turn black the screen and after a while the char will apperar in a random town.
0.32%-0.40% chance to fall unconciusness.
0.41%-0.50% coma, chance to death
effects are acumulatives
alcohol lvl = alcohol in blood / 30+ EN * 15
Beers: +3 alcohol in blood
Booze: +6 alcohol in blood
Roentgen Rum: +10 alcohol in blood
Rot Gut: +15 alcohol in blood
after each in-game hour, the alcohol in blood will be decreased by 3
it would be funny to see drinking competitions, and drunked chars (not only npcs) in the wastelans.

Its not. Its a suggestion of a guy that needs 2 extra points of charisma from time to time and dont want to get addicted with mentats. Thats not reasonable and it won't help to the game balance for sure.
If you want to talk to NPC's, you HAVE to "waste" those two points. Thats whats SPECIAL about.

when u dont have these 2 points in SPECIAL u can take some stuff THAT is why drugs/other shit like this is in this game. I agree about keeping balance about and all but hey in this game balance is so $%^ hard to sustain so there will be alweys problem. It is with PA and it is with other decent stuff. Truth is i dont have problem with geting mentats i can just talk with my pal and have how many i want and im in small almost non PvP gang. Big PVP gangs members with total power bulids dont have this problem too cos they have caps/resources so can buy or craft it when they need it. But what with poor player who dont have resources? wasteland is cruel but this is just silly.

Trust me - I used to be a bartender IRL for quite some time. This idea is good only for powerbuilds and we don't need more universal soldiers.

The man's right. Nothing's worse than having to talk to someone who's been drinking and you're dry stinking sober. Make it a combat drug. If someone is fucking awful to talk to, and the most unpleasant to be around a human being can be (1 charisma) getting him drunk isn't exactly going to turn it around.

ok you two maked now some more valid points so ok ok :( but let me ask you smart heads one thing if we are about realism and all that why cigarettes give +1 to Perception? I like smoke cigs but that never make me see things better :P

NERVES! Your previously shaky aim is now soothed. You can concentrate on everything a little bit more. Your senses are just a tiny bit more finely tuned.
Also everyone knows smoking is cool and it had to have some kind of purpose. It doesn't make a huge amount of sense, but it's the best one I can think of.
Are there any other items like cigarettes which could do with having a purpose? Besides rum/rotgut/beer/booze. Jerky maybe? Fruit? The sunglasses and spectacles would be interesting. Keep them in your action slot, like a radio, gain perception or charisma. Seems to be a reasonable tradeoff.

As for it "unbalancing the special system" that's total crap. You think the developers didn't know everyone would use gifted? They designed a system that was meant to have 10 extra points, all fonline players are seriously gimped stat wise. You can't even max out a hth char and they are significantly less effective than any other combat build. Cha serves almost no purpose and characters are already starved for stats.

You are not a chosen one god of the wasteland. Live with it. If your charisma is on par with that of a rotting corpse (no offence to ghouls, i meant dead rotting corpses) then man up and face the consequences.
