Title: A slavery guide for newbies by newbie.
Post by: Palid on October 27, 2010, 06:23:29 pm
So, you wanna be a slaver? Rape innoncent people and evenly fight 6v1,uh? Than this guide is for you!

Slavers are really tough, cause even if they look like playing alone, they got always a company of five "players" that are controllable. And you can even mine with them!

1.Slavery builds that actually may work.
I think that slavery is a damn hard thing to do, because it's explained pretty much nowhere and the formulas are bugged. Let me explain everything.
First thing we need is to start with a slaver build. The slaver build will be pretty different for every role you wanna play in the game. Let me show some basic builds.
Standard pistol guy build (I took a perk here that's especially useful when you're taking Ghoul Crazies with sniper rifles.)
This guys doesn't crit much and does not have super duper damage, but he can shoot up to five times before having to "reload" his AP. If you wish you can remove two points from agi and add them to perception, it will increase your sight range a lot, for cost of attack speed.
(http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/8856/basicsniper.th.jpg) (http://img529.imageshack.us/i/basicsniper.jpg/)

Here's another build for a totally solo slaver character. You'll be able to do pretty much everything you need alone, but your firepower will be reduced GREATLY compared to the first build.
(http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/5666/modifiedpalid.th.jpg) (http://img525.imageshack.us/i/modifiedpalid.jpg/)

And finally the build I am using on my main character. He sucks balls totally, but it's really fun to play a toon like that. ^^
(http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/5666/modifiedpalid.th.jpg) (http://img526.imageshack.us/i/modifiedpalid.jpg/)

Let's start the real guide, shall we?

2.The Guide

Palid:Okay, the important part. First, let's head on to Wiki-Boy 2000 (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki) and look what it says about slavery (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Slavery). It's written on the wiki that you need to talk with Metzger. In Den.
Newbie:Okay, but where the hell is that Den?!
P:Now tell me, did you look on the World Map in the Wiki? It's here. (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/The_World)
N:Thanks, but I have still no idea how to get to that Den!
P:If you really have problems with getting to Den, try asking people on FOnline irc channel, #2238.

You get it? Let's get that work done. Once we get to the Den, we should find Metzger.
(http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/9647/screen25102010194054.th.jpg) (http://img535.imageshack.us/i/screen25102010194054.jpg/)
After you find that evil bastard, ask him about this place and say that you wanna be a Slaver.
(http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/3296/screen25102010194058.th.jpg) (http://img841.imageshack.us/i/screen25102010194058.jpg/)
Than, you gotta get some ropes. If youre a real newbie it is the hardest part I think, cause it's not easy to find fibers. Try asking on #2238, maybe someone will give you some fibers or ropes for free. Let's say you've got some ropes and a gun with some ammo ready. It's time to head out and hunt some slaves !
(http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/4712/screen26102010141101.th.jpg) (http://img109.imageshack.us/i/screen26102010141101.jpg/)
Here's a REALLY NICE location for slavery. 90% of encounters there are mantis and holy people. Holy people are really strong meele fighters, they can do up to 40damage in one attack if they have their combat knives equipped! If you got five of them, you really don't need to fear ANY PK that will try to attack you alone (unless this PK is a big gunner with a rocket launcher. If he DOES have a minigun or rocket launcher, run for your life!).
Remember guys, capturing slaves may be a really hard thing to do when you're alone. It's really good to bring a buddy with you.

Now for the best part: Capturing slaves!
First get rid of every other enemy in the zone - You don't want your new slave to die, don't you? Than attack this slave until he goes unconscious.
(http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/565/screen26102010141350.th.jpg) (http://img295.imageshack.us/i/screen26102010141350.jpg/)
Than use your Rope on him.
(http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/2669/screen26102010143055.th.jpg) (http://img545.imageshack.us/i/screen26102010143055.jpg/)
The last and most important thing is to heal your slave, to let him get up. Use either first aid skill on him or Healing Powder//Stimpack (you can't use weak healing powders on other players//NPCs).

3.Slave mining and controlling your slaves.
You have two ways of controlling slaves.
First way to control a slave
You just talk with them. It's so easy! :P You've got a lot of options to deal with, but most of them are self-explanatory ones.
You can also set your slaves to mine for you this way! You need to enter an  NCR, Klamath and Broken Hills mine and talk with your slave about mining there.
(http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/3908/screen27102010172744.th.jpg) (http://img253.imageshack.us/i/screen27102010172744.jpg/)
Remember that slaves limit for carrying minerals//iron ore if 6. Doesn't matter if it's 6minerals or 3iron ore and 3minerals. It's six, but they do not have any cooldown. It's the only downside of their mining.
Second way to control a slave(s).
You may ask, why there is an (s) in the title? 'Cause you're controlling everyone of your slaves by that method. Its fast and works nice. You just click with left mouse button on the target while holding alt. A menu will popup.
(http://img713.imageshack.us/img713/2076/screen27102010181614.th.jpg) (http://img713.imageshack.us/i/screen27102010181614.jpg/)
And that's it! These are the ways to control a slave!

PS. New info about maximal resources carry weight. I think it depends on the slaves maximal weight, it's not fixed on six. I think. After some weight they just stop running.

Yes, you kill or sell it. You can slave-mine ONLY at NCR, Klamath and Broken Hills.
You can also dismiss a slave by typing command ~disbandparty
or typing command ~disbandparty away_team

First command will remove EVERY FOLLOWER you got on the whole world (let's say you've got a brahmin in your tent and a bugged slave. You're using ~disbandparty and remove that slave so you got another slave slot, but you doesn't have your cow either).
The second one will remove every follower on the OTHER LOCATION THAN YOURS. (You're in the tent with that brahmin and wan't to get rid of bugged slaves. You just use this command.)

Yes, you kill or sell it. You can slave-mine ONLY at NCR or Modoc mine (Modoc isnt confirmed by me though, just heard of it).

You mean Klamath mine, Modoc doesn't have a mine.
I can confirm you can use slaves to mine there.

I've been a slaver for a long time and my slaves never stop at 6 minerals, usually it will go to about 18, you may want to recheck.

I can even confirm it's more than 18.
The max. is 20 or 22 minerals plus some ores.

Not quite possible yet, you can move until every follower yo have is out of your fov and only the one yo uwanted to command is there but its too tedious :P.

By the way, I give this Guide a
4.9/5

only because you messed up on the Carryweight thing at first :P.

You have my seal of approval, that is, when I get one.

The max. is 20 or 22 minerals plus some ores.

I'm not sure yet, but some slaves seem to mine more than others.

When I used Lone Wanderers, they used to gather 20 random ores in the NCR mine, but when i used some wilders, they came up with 28 ores each.

I have yet to check the Gecko mine, but I tried to mine in Broken Hill but it didn't work - anyone can confirm other mines?

Have a slave with you, go to a mine, talk to said slave say "Bitch get to work" and come back after a little while and take it out of his inventory and tell the bitch to get back to work.

hmm its something like that but, you enter convercation and say to slave "I need you do mine some minerals for me" anyway its mine both, minerals and iron ore, you cant told him to mine one of that

I don't think you can mine in unguarded mines, except Gecko, and you can't have slaves mine HQ stuff either way. Try making your slaves mine in a guarded mine.

Yes, I would love to have an entire herd of brahmin at my tent, but alas we can't now. Even with weak slaves that would never be able to be used in PvP, it still counts towards that 5 follower limit. The problem is with powerful mercs, and mutant mercs, not poor slaves, and definitively not 35 HP sacks of meat.  :'(

Doctor. Everything else requires you to put points in Science or Repair, which takes away from the valuable skill points you need.

If brahmins will be unlimited, then snipers can us ethem as barricade from bursters!!!11
Also each obstacle gives -10% to hit, you can make 300% SG 12 PE sniper specially for this, and other snipers will have low % to hit you, because they orientired only to get 95% to hit in the eyes to BA +10 AGI, not to the same guy surrounded by army of living wall ^_^

Okay, you're just kidding, but if someone wanted to take the time to make and organize a brahmin barricade that would actually last more than a few seconds in Town Control, I would love to see that.

Also, the "5 at a time" rule would still be applied to my dream, so everyone would need to be 9 Charisma brahmin-taming alt to do it. If they were 1 Charisma builds on Mentats, they would have to tame the brahmin in advance, one at a time, and then bring the brahmin in one at a time to a map, where they would probably die. I hope that makes sense as to why brahmin would never be able to make an efficient barricade, and what I said isn't imbalanced.

the trappers near redding are not slaveable i think, only those near klamath are. Also your merc limit depends on your charisma, and mercs left at tent/base or anywhere else also counts. (the formula is Ch/2 -1 rounded up)

What actual limit is? I have CH 9 + perk, and about 4 mercs standed alone at the base. I haven't any slave or merc with, then going to enslave.

You can have 5 slaves or mercs then, those that sit at a tent or base still count against that number. So if you have them at your tent you won't be getting anymore.

~disbandparty makes all of your mercs/slaves to be deleted from existence.
~disbandparty away_team makes all mercs/slaves that aren't in your current map to be deleted from existence.

Oh, RLY? It's has been already suggested? Or this is temp issue atm? I'am hope about it.
btw, there could be some limits, for example: CH with/out perk (x2, or not) = max slavers/mercs that could be collected at base/tent/somewhere; for excluding a situation, then about a ~100 npc's stored at Slaver's loc.
i tho, with CH 9 + perk (group size: 10), it's absolutely normal to have about 10-20 mercs standed alone. So, Slaver than have a choice :)

I can start a thread, to suggest this opinion, and explain it more, if required. I tho, any proud Slaver will support this, regardless lobsters who don't rly care.

there were already lots of suggestions like that, just wait now to see how devs will solve this problem. For your knowledge, before neither mercs/slaves were limited if they were left at tent or anywhere else, but people liked to make tent/base traps out of 20-30 mercs. While i personally dont have anything against that, devs did and changed the system to the current :>

Fine, thx for info, i'am w8ing also =)

one more question, what kind of slaves are more usefull in RT with .223 pistols, for example? i've nocited, that slaves don't never use burst mode, so, there's no much useful to bring em a less powerful rifles (except sniper/hunt rifles for ghouls) or smg.

set to attack anyone except your faction or something.

Thanks, workin ;)

btw, getting lil back, here's a solution to collect more slaves, by avoiding current CH limitation:
Just register another one slaver, with CH 9 and up him to 6 lvl, get awareness & magnetic personality perk; after u can delegate merc/slave control to ur second slaver; and back if u wish :) but workin only for bases and any rest loc, except tent.

Already asked many times, but how many slaves i can carry with 4CH?

Edit:
But i once taken 3CH+Magnetic personality and it worked with 2 slaves.
Both offer 4 follower space so whats wrong?

I used that guy about 4 weeks ago.

runboy93, Magnetic Personality (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Magnetic_Personality) gives u 1 extra slot in your companion limit, not additional CH.
Charisma (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Slavery#Enslaving): At least 3. With 10, you'll be able to carry 4 slaves at a time (Remember that the formula to carry followers is (Charisma-1)/2, rounded down). 5 Charisma will make you able to carry two slaves, 7 Charisma : three slaves. With CH 9 and the Magnetic Personality perk, you'll be able to carry 5 slaves at a time.

Indeed.  I've seen them make 100 crit in eyes with a knife.  But thats not the point, they are easy to take down if your quick + considering they have no Damage resist, and for that lvl 6 is decent enough.

Are you planning on taking gain charisma or magnetic? with 8 ch i don't see the point in not taking both really although that is alot of perks to take up  ;D And don't forget, sharpened spears rape especially with a hit crit chance.

AlienS2, only for gathering high quality resources. btw, slaves haven't any cooldown, that's why sledgehammers would disappear after they gather 3-6 hq res.

Guys, just wanted to ask
what is the best way to lvl-up being a slaver?

Doing a slave run in Den one can earn some money quite easily
so not a big problem to buy someone for 5-10 k.

So which slaves you prefer to lvl up with and who to hunt, mutated molerats?
Title: Re: A slavery guide for newbies by newbie.
Post by: Jotisz on May 22, 2011, 09:56:52 am
Trappers can level only as I know I tried to let some other slaves kill stuff but nothing happened. For leveling them add to male ones a gun to females throwing knifes or combat knifes and hunt brahmins or molerats.
Title: Re: A slavery guide for newbies by newbie.
Post by: den59 on May 22, 2011, 10:17:11 am
And what about lvl-ing up yourself?
That is actually my main concern :)
On the wiki page it was recommended to use mercs with laser/plasma
so u can finish enemies.

p/s/ i'm SG with fast-shoot perk

p/s/ say, who would you take with you/buy  to hunt centaurs?

Trappers can level only as I know I tried to let some other slaves kill stuff but nothing happened. For leveling them add to male ones a gun to females throwing knifes or combat knifes and hunt brahmins or molerats.

You can simply use the alt command of stop all actions when an enemy is unconscious and then get the kill yourself as they will not attack those unconscious and will then choose a different target when one of them gets hit again.
Title: Re: A slavery guide for newbies by newbie.
Post by: Jotisz on May 25, 2011, 04:29:43 pm
For leveling well I never was in a hurry to level so I always done it slowly with killing critters that have guns and hostile.

About mercs since they can level I suggest buying one that helps you out in your fight a small gunner could use a big gunner or energy user. For energy users I think big gunner is the answer and for big gunner take a small gun user (others probably say its a stupid thing but I think it would work out pretty well if you use the follower smart).

These below are what i think the easiest way for the centaurs I assumed you are at least around lvl3-6 and gonna fight in tb.

Considering you want to do it without other players:

If you going against centaurs take slaves with you. Arm 2 combat slaves with rockets add a hunting rifle to a ghoul take a homesteader with a 14mn pistol (I assume you can lead 4 at least) the last one can be any slave if you still have room. Also its not a fail safe method if its a versus fight you have quite good chances if not then there is a lot of chance you loose some slave but you can surely run away.

With other players:
If there is one high level player (lvl21 the best he/she will let you kill all then) you can do it with him/her alone you will not need slaves for it but can take 1 male trapper with you he will level pretty fast on centaurs and soon will have hp around 86 if you let him finish a lot.

If you don't know a higher level player you would trust take some friend with you 2-3 and look for vs fights only each of you can lvl some that way

Hope it didn't go way too off topic

I've tried in NCR and Junktown mining sites.  According to previous posts I should be able to in NCR mine.  I don't even get dialog option to tell them to mine.

Alright so Ive been hunting with slaves, trappers, homesteaders, scavengers, crazies and some of them have been armed with SMGs and they never burst, which is good, happened once that a trapper bursted when he had a FN FAL but no harm done. I think that there should be a certain setting so that they dont burst, that gives you alot more range for arming your slaves and not worrying about them killing your other slaves.

Also, slave mining, should also be more settings. My slaves never dig ore, only minerals. Does anyway btw know if you can wait at world map when your slaves are mining and theyll keep going? And how much does it take to lvl up a trapper?? Killed alot of molerats in realtime with them (until the buttbuddies in the NCR army came along).

Cant slave mine in junktown, worked in gecko earlier today. Going to try NCR.

Can you bring slaves on the train?

The questions are endless, when you assign a slave does it keep the old attack settings? Is there a gm on this forum i can pm with all these questions? Really need answers.

I have a question..

Say someone takes mentats or beer and it allows them to have an extra few slaves. What happens when the effects of those drugs wear off? Do they still have said slaves? Because if they do, slave builds would only need 6 charisma. All they have to do is take magnetic personality and mentats along with beer. That would make them have 9 Char + magnetic personality allowing them to capture five slaves. It would only work if slaves don't disappear once the affects of those drugs wear off.

It has the potential to change everything for slaver builds, maybe allowing you to dump those three leftover points into intelligence. This would let slavers get better professions. Again, it's just a theory; the whole drug thing needs to be tested and I'm fairly new to this game.

Yes. You only need 9 CH when enslaving/buying new mercs. You can walk around with them with 6 CH.

You didn't discover some big secret, I think most people know that already

But that doesnt work with followers. With mentats, u can lead them, but after that, it says: 'u cant lead group that size' or something similar, and you cant move. The only exception is: you can still lead them, but until first mous click (so if your destination is SF from VC, you can travel, until you encounter something).

I thought it works similar with slaves. Are you sure Jovanka?

With 6 CH and magnetic personality you can lead 6 NPC / players on map. The formula is differnt for buying/enslaving and "leading". the point is you don't need 9 CH to use all 5 mercs / slaves, only to aquire them.

Or you mean that it doesn't work for real people? Of course, because you don't buy them.
Title: Re: A slavery guide for newbies by newbie.
Post by: Chrupek on September 27, 2011, 01:01:14 pm
Ok i see. I hope that this is a bug, not a feature. Because its pushing you to abuse, for saving SPECIAL points.

Similar case is: getting proffesion via drugs, but this is somehow logical: u have to be *not ugly* to get proffesion, but there is no need to be *not ugly* for crafting.

More logical will be opposite situation: anybody can buy, enslave people, but you have to be charismatic to force them go with you. enslaving is just punching/firing and using rope. Why the hell u need charisma for that?!
Title: Re: A slavery guide for newbies by newbie.
Post by: Slaver Snipe on September 27, 2011, 02:42:02 pm
To make the stat useful? Otherwise why would anyone have ch higher than 3? Besides you get a massive boost in firepower for special points, so it's a fair trade off, you shouldn't be able to have a super powerbuild and still have 5 followers destroying people.
Title: Re: A slavery guide for newbies by newbie.

Your pretty wrong. that was about: if someone (dev) try really hard to make formula for charisma different for enslaving and leading, it should rather be opposite: less charisma for enslaving, more for leading.

But that was only about weird differences between enslaving and leading, i think charisma formula should be constant for both activities.

Could someone explain the slave commands more thoroughly than in game?

I went to help a friend do some slaving as I'm lvl 19 doc,
once he enslaved some he tried setting their attack status,
I'm in VC faction and he is in another that I'm friend of faction.
He tried to set them up so that they don't attack me or my friends, and kill everyone who isn't member of faction.
Each time they started attacking me, in the end he set them to kill enemies of faction.
will this make them kill anyone who isn't associated with faction or only those who are on faction computer as enemies?

You should capture 60 HP combat slaves.
69 HP combat slaves do not level up.

One thing that i noticed it seems like slaves do not grow their skills when level up. There were rumors that they get +5 to each skill when level up, however I have a trapper woman that got leveled up to level 8 (98 HP) and she still can not hit mutated rat properly (misses 2 of 5 times)...

I guess up from the Klamath I found some encounter with 50 hp ones, but I think leveling slaves is useless, better get some lone wandererrs and equit them with combat knives/rippers - they'll make a little mess, or do guarding job in cave (tried)
Also better get children slaves -they mine more even than black guys in oragne shirts and homesteaders!, Also if you want to find good shooters, get Bandits - they are much better, and mobile

Trappers (50HP, Males and Females)

Bandits (68HP Males and 65HP Females)
9:0

Does that mean I can only have 2 slaves at a time? Or does it mean slaves do not take up any party points, and if I have 6 mercs with me I can have 8 slaves?

Did you test it? I still can have only 2 slaves, even though I have 210 PP and 10 CHA.

Yes, you must or get companions but you can leave them at your tent if you don't want them with you and still enslave the extra npcs.

Here's some advice - don't try slaving with a melee guy at lvl-6 as you just don't have enough health to withstand a few criticals.

Well that idea with having something 2x makes you have one more y.
It should be instead because now when I want to have 3 brahmins it looks that I got swarm of dogs with me and only 3 brahs.
Should be 1/2 not 2/1.
I guess its bug or stupid feature .

Best places to get slaves which lvl up, but wipe is today so cordinates will 'most likely' become useless :)

Trappers (50HP, Males and Females)
7:2,7:3

Bandits (68HP Males and 65HP Females)
9:0

Ghouls (53HP)
27:2

Are there still lvling slaves in this season? And are these the places to find them?

Slaving changed now you can have 2 slaves no matter your ch. To get more then 2 you need mercenaries, each one gives you 1 more slave slot.
Check this page at the wiki

Slaving;

you can have 2 slaves no matter your ch. To get more then 2 you need mercenaries, each one gives you 1 more slave slot.

You need;

Enter into chat/command box by pressing enter;

~partypoints
Displays current/max 'party points' that are used by new follower system

Other commands;

'Regroup' available in follower menu (Alt+click on hex) which makes followers return to master and 'Flee' which makes them flee to the nearest exit grid and enter worldmap.

Followers will demand certain things from its master to belong loyal, for slaves it's drugs, mercs want their paycheck and companions want food/drinks, failure to nurture them results in lower loyality, meaning they'll flee in combat faster.
Slaves (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Slaves) use jet (http://www.fo2238.fodev.net/wiki/Jet). 5-10% increase per jet dose. If slave loyality goes down too low, they may attempt to kill their master.

Slaves cannot use armor given to them.

Basically all of that is wrong. You have a 2 slave base no matter what unless you pick a certain trait.  You get 1 more slave per merc you have.  Having 5-7-9 charisma does not matter all that does is add party points.  The only thing you NEED the charisma for is leading the slaves/mercs on the world map.

Basically if a newbie comes here looking at how to enslave your giving them information based on the previous wipe not the current one and thus it will fuck them over.
Title: Re: A slavery guide for newbies by newbie.

Title: Re: A slavery guide for newbies by newbie.
Post by: xanister on March 28, 2012, 05:24:11 pm
1 charisma per entity following you.
 Players + Slaves + Mercs = cha.

Party points for mercs/companions only.
Total party points = (10 x Charsima) + (Speech / 3) + Perks/Traits

Mercs cost between 40 and 90 pp.

Number of slaves = numbers of mercs +2

You can capture 2 slaves anyway, you need charisma to travel with them. You can have 1 at tent a 1 with you if you have 2 charisma.
From what I understand with 1 charisma is pointless as you can't travel with them, you would need to use beer for 1 to travel with you, mentats for 2 to travel with you.

Maybe you should consider creating a specialized slaver alt for making money that way, it can be quite profitable... In any case more profitable and less time consuming than selling spears IMO.  ;)

Get addicted to something, i forgot but it's either Buffout or Nuka-Cola, addiction decreases agility. And there is a lot of confusion and scattered info, so I will just post this and hopefully it will not have to be repeated.
SLAVES ANYONE can have 2 slaves, that is the default. For every other human companion(Wastelanders, mercs, ghoul/mutie mercs) the amount of slaves available is increased by ONE. Slaves take up no PP, but the maximum amount is to have 7 melee ghouls (245 PP, Good Natured does not allow slaves ;)) which will allow 9 slaves in all. Note, however, that you will require 10 Charisma just to take all the slaves around. The formula for carrying anything, from animals to companions to players, is just your ch(it includes you! 1 ch you can only go by yourself)
MERCS Mercenaries can be obtained according to party points, ranging from 35pp (Melee ghoul) to 100pp (Big guns mutant) per merc. Maximum is 8 melee ghouls(280PP) or 3 BG Mutants(300PP)
COMPANIONS Companions, also known as travellers or wastelanders, each take up 70 pp. Their stats, level(Certification anyone?), weapon type, and equipment is determined upon their spawning in the town. See my post in http://fodev.net/forum/index.php/topic,20246.30.html for follower locations. Most is 4 Companions (280PP)
DOGS Dogs can be obtained infinitely for a very cheap price and, as far as I know, cannot be enslaved like brahmins or slaves. They take up 40pp each, whether it's the attack dog or the red scout dog. The maximum is 7 dogs (280PP)
BRAHMINS Brahmins are affected by dogs, for every two dogs you own, a new spot opens for a cow. However, everyone starts with one. Brahmins take up no PP. The most you can have is 4 brahmins with either 6 dogs(240PP) or 7 dogs(280PP).

Hope I helped, hope this will not need to be reposted, and please correct me if there is something missing/wrong/incomprehensive!

BOS Armorer - what you jsut wrote should be made into a new stickied topic, and the pre-wipe one should be deleted, it just breeds confusion :/

I have some questions of my own, tho':

1. Will the NCR shoot me on sight? Like if I would want to get the awareness perk and would have to get into Shady Sands.
2. Will the mine guards shoot me in NCR and Junktown? (Someone wrote that they do) What's the best place to send slaves to mine, then?
3. Someone wrote that you need to give jet to slaves to keep them from attacking you or fleeing or something, is that true (there's nothing about it on the wiki)? Wouldn't that be terribly expensive?
4. Is Palid's slaver build (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/529/basicsniper.jpg/) valid after all the changes? I would suspect that the hich CH would be useful for the PP for the mercs enabling to keep more slaves, but who'd really need such a big group?

I'm thinking of making a similiar slaver but with 7CH instead of 9, that would enable me to have 4 slaves with 2 mercs, right? What's the best way to spend the remaining 2 points?
Title: Re: A slavery guide for newbies by newbie.
Post by: Kascin on April 05, 2013, 03:11:03 pm
Can't answer 1 and 2.

3) I never gave anything to my slaves and they never stopped to be loyal. But I never bought slaves to Metzger, maybe only them need to have Jet.

4) The build is totally outdated for a simple reason: not enough speech.
100 Speech is a minimum, because this give you magnetic personnality. This build allow 3 Ghouls mercs, so 5 slaves. If you can't have more than 5 slaves 9 Charisma is useless.
Don't forget you need Party Points to get mercenaries, but only when you buy them. So you can raise your charisma with drugs at this moment, as 1 Cha = 10 PP.

To take the example of this build:he has 105 PP (90 PP with 9 Charisma, 15 PP with 45 Speech); instead of 9 Cha you can put only 6, and take 1 mentat and a beer when you're buying your mercs.

You can make a good slaver with 8 Cha; he can have 5 mercs, so 7 slaves.
5 mercs (ghouls) require: 5 x 35 PP = 175 PP
And this character will have: 80 PP (8 Cha) + 50 PP (Magnetic Personnality) + 33 PP (100 Speech) + 20 PP (Mentat) = 183 PP
You need few skillpoints and you have a lot of slaves

You can have less slaves, 5 for example and use what I was talking before (about the outdated build).
3 mercs require: 3 x 35 PP = 105 PP
So the character can have: 60 PP (6 Cha) + 20 PP (Mentat) + 10 PP (Beer) + 15 PP (45 Speech) = 105 PP
Or you can do (drugless): 60 PP (6 Cha) + 33 PP (100 Speech) + 50 PP (Magnetic Personnality) = 143 PP

You can do the same thing (like just above), with 6 slaves. You'll need 7 Cha, and this will give you 153 PP (without drugs). And 4 mercs need 140 PP.

I think it's better to have enought charisma to lead all your slaves at once on worldmap, but it's not forbidden to have less charisma.
You can have 5 mercs, so 7 slaves with only 5 or 6 charisma. But it's boring to take often Mentats.

Thanks! That was very helpful.

So do I understand correctly that with the builds you describe the mercs that enable having more slaves are supposed to stay at the tent? Seeing as CH+magnetic personality is the maximum size of the travelling party.
Title: Re: A slavery guide for newbies by newbie.
Post by: Kascin on April 05, 2013, 10:56:34 pm
Yes, you can't use Ghouls mercs because they are too slow.
Their only use is to help you to have slaves without using lots of Party Points.

But if you want you can imagine a slaver who travel with his mercs and slaves.
You will have less slaves, but if you want to play this way, do it :)

hey, i'm new to this game and i need some advice regarding the economics of slavery!

i created a slaver as my first character, so that i can make some money for my future alts.

his stats are: 3,6,7, 8, 6, 10,1, fast shot and small frame, tags are SG, FA and outdoorsman. at level 9 i have weapon handling, toughness, even tougher and the ranger, cautious nature, sex appeal and magnetic personality perks. currently i have 100+% SG, speech and outdoorsman, FA is at 74%. i use a shotgun and a 10 mm pistol to do the slaving. i'm stuck with the pistol instead of hunting rifle, because the rope is ridiculously heavy in this game ( btw. why is that so?) and if i take 5 ropes with me, i can't have a bigger secondary gun.

so the problem is: i usually buy shotgun ammo for 300-500 caps and use it in about two slave runs. a run usually gives me 800 caps (its very rare that i find 5 males). so i barely make 1000 caps in two slave runs, which takes me quite a lot of time, because i have to find weak merchandise, as i can't kill 5-6 trappers yet.

i tried slave runs, but i made only 300 caps and there is a cooldown on it, so that won't help me get rich either.

so, my most important question is: how can i make more money out of slavery?

and two more: due to my low strength i wear leather jacket for slaving, which gives me 30 AC. when i wanted to kill some critters i switched it to metal armor and all of a sudden my AC went DOWN to 0 and critters had an easy time hitting me. why is that so?

and finally: is it a good idea as a slaver to join a faction? i'm thinking about joining vault city, after i rip of the mordinos in the jet deal.

Catch me on IRC i`ll gladly barter for Shotgun Ammo (I think that i can sell you like 5000 of that ammo for 1k) Other options is just doing meele slaver.

man Slave Runs gives 1000-10 000 caps each, you should ask metzger for that, he will give you quest to kill some aggresive tribals/junkies/guards, some slavers will be there to help you /then go back to metzger and you ll get your reward for each surviving passive tribal/junkie/caravaneer.

so far i did two slave runs, one was in a warehouse full of junkies, where no one would even attack me. the second one was a tribal village. i made 400 both times, nowhere near 1000-10 000. i'm a bit confused.

Hi,

made my starting character a slaver. She's pretty successful considering I didn't plan her to be a slaver :)
She's got 5 ghoul mercs รก 35 party points (175 of 183 pp used) and carries 7 slaves at once.
Energy expert, Armorer and doctor profession level 1 makes her self sufficient in any thing she needs for the job.
I guess its not the standard way to do it but for me it works pretty good.
The build:
http://www.nitue.net/#fcp/direct!id=9157

Thanks for all the info here helped a lot :), just one question to which I could not find an answer neither here nor the wiki article:
What is the cooldown time between slaveruns?
I think its somewhat about 2 hours, but it would be nice to be certain. I couldn't do the job sometimes when I came in too early, and I only go to the Den to sell slaves there for these jobs, else I sell at vortis which is safer. I don't want to go in there if I don't get the job.

Edit:
so no one knows?
