Well, the radio could be used as a beacon, transmitting coordinates (globally for a short time, perhaps using Small Energy Cells as "ammo") as a new location on the map, but i believe it comes into a different suggestion topic.
Anyway, the radio lost somewhat its value with IRC and teamspeak.

Note: The location shouldn't replace a base, so it must be relatively easy to stumble upon and shouldn't regenerate resources.
