Security cameras.

Security Cameras, Craftable, only placeable in generated maps such as bases and tents.

100% Science
100% Traps

Depending on amount of science will strengthen the camera's PE.  With lowest requirements it'll be crafted with a 5 PE vison for wherever you set it up at.

This will give gangs a chance to find out who betray them and steal all their stuff or possibly go off and hide somewhere waiting for nightfall to take all their shit or whatever possible method.

Only the person who crafted the camera could access it.

How will this work? :

Well it would literally record everything it can see or a maximumof 24 hours so you would have to have a fast-forward button and once full you will have to reset the tape or ..  Well I guess we would also be able to craft tapes. :P

you will see everything as if your really there but only the amount of PE the camera has and its position will determine quality.

We alsready have mercenary gaurds so why not just link them with the camerass? :P

Wouldn't you agree that with security camera's we would also need security bots?

Other than the obviously ability to make robots(profession+high metal costs) you should be able to make gun turrents as well.

How would it work? Would it just list the name of every person who passed through?

We also need turrets like Vault City ones in bases. But with wheels.

Sorry... I need to train more :( It was in reaction to 2nd post ; seems someone is suggesting robot mercs in every single topic of this forum.

For the idea itself... There were security cameras in Fallout 1 & 2, but keep in mind they were only coming from pre-war locations like Vaults, and they were rare. Plus... Greater control of thiefs/betrayer = Greater recrutment = Bigger gangs = Bad. And I like to always keep an eye on my mates, to take care about who I recruit, etc.

Understand that the recording camera was made when people thought the world was flat....  Its not THAT high-tech.

You can't forget that the only places we do find security camera's are places that survived.

Now which pre-war places had survived? Vaults and bases (ie military/underground facilities) So that makes sense those high risk places would have any from of security.

But, what do we see mostly out in the wastelands? Broken down buildings. Buildings that previously held businesses, homes, facilities, ect. At the very least if security camera's were available before The Great War, a large majority of the rich would have had them if they were caught in the sensationalism. Which also means very wealthy businesses would have them, hence Vault-Tec employing them in their structures. This clearly means cameras where available to the public, well those who had the money.

Also The Enclave, is the reminisce of the US government, they have the know how to build robots and maintain them as one can see with K-9 built by the scientist at Navarro.

What i'm trying to argue here is that the reason for such rarity of the security cameras/robots is because over time without maintenance these robotic structures would either break down or became victim of the post war disaster and thereafter. The only places we do see robots/security cameras are places that were either protected like Vault City or left untouched due to the place being inaccessible like Mariposa Military Base where they had at least maintenance on any existing robots/security cameras. Which extended their life for so long.

Whether or not to implement robots/security cameras is up to the developers, i was simply trying to state the fact that its robotic structures are rare because most were destroyed and the only surviving ones we see now are places that survived.  Not because the knowledge is lost.

+1 vote for mutated monkey with a typewriter and a monocle.

"Monkey! Who visited our base today?"
Monkey takes a drag from a cigar and hands over a slip of paper
"Ahh, thank you monkey."

A ingame camera that somehow is recording everything that happens in the base? Very unlikely to realize such thing.
