I own one.
What makes a nickname b&able? I own a nickname after a cool sci-fi movie and I don't like the idea of being thrown out of here.

It's offensive to some, whether it's based upon a movie or not.

IMO it's not as offensive as the guy who's using fuhrer (and some with numbers behind it) as nickname.
Yes, I'm aware it's the German word for leader, but it's also a reference to Hitler.

So far I've noticed such names disappearing quite quickly.

This is MMORPG. Choose a name of your character, create a background for him and play the game.

But choosing a nickname should follow certain rules and offensive nicks should be banned the same way as offensive actions no matter if the nickname comes out of some movie or book or whatever. Its not that hard to come up a with new nickname. Or just steal some cool name from other game/movie characters. There are plenty of nicks to choose from without offending anyone. So trash that lame nick of yours and get a new, better one.

I think that if GMs deem the name too offensive they´ll take action if they feel like it. That movie sounds horribly wrong.. and I just simply hope it isn´t what I think it is.

But I however have a personal opinion over you for using that name, but thankfully I´m going to keep that to myself to avoid an uproar. :<

I dont see how I Am Rapist is offensive Adolf Hitler I can understand but considering names like CUMDRAGON being around since forever and not being baned i dont think names like that count.

There's a difference between an idiot with a porn related name and someone calling himself a rapist.
If you don't understand that, you're not too smart.
I happen to know someone who for reasons would be very offended by that nick.

I agree wholeheartly. Problem of the a bit younger (or not so smart) actual "internet" generation (not only on this forum) is, that they lack respect for things. There is a clear border of making fun of something, and not having the ability to respect something.
"Raping" is not fun, "Suicide bombing" is not fun neither. People giving "lulz" at such things are in my book... well, better not say it. These are very sensitive topics and trampeling with "lulz" feets on these topics is just stupid. And such are said ingame actions/nicknames.

Just an example, I remember playing an MMO where the name "loli" was banned, the funny part about this is that "loli" is just short for Lolita Complex, and where Lolita is a proper name of a girl, and also the name of a book by Nabokov about this character.

If it's a short name of "Lolita Complex", then just write "Lolita Complex".
And don't be a smartass, do you know any other games where blowing yourself up with explosives for teh lulz is common?
I still think it's offensive to many people, we even had a thread where someone wanted to make an "Al Quaida" Army of suicide bombers ingame.  Ofcourse everything is "for teh lulz", if someone says something about it, then ofcourse the "why so serious" thing kicks in, or even "fag", "morale asshole" etc. and this is just sad. I sometimes even question myself in hanging around with such horrible people. But oh well.

Counter Strike and Call of Duty 4(was even an achievement for doing it) come quickly to mind. I think in it of itself the Fallout series was an offensive game to many people. But anyway, my problem is how does someone determine if something is offensive or offensive enough to deserve a ban, as it is clearly not stated in the rules.
