Sneaking Suggestion... Invisible Only From Behind
« on: July 03, 2010, 11:42:53 am »

People will probably say this will make Sneaking completely useless, but...  I think it makes more sense.

How about if you're facing the sneaking person, you can see them.  But if they're facing the behind of your character, they are invisible on your screen?  It would make it so people ACTUALLY have to 'sneak up' on you, instead of just running around like some invisible man.

I believe this was implented a while. And sneak was utterly broken. Since it takes less than a second to turn around and check for sneakers. and sneakers need way more time to actually sneak up on people.

this suggestion sounds same like "not stealable while trading".
sneakers havent much skillspoints for other stuff, every decrease of range modifies is stupidy and make the skill useless.

btw there are many treads to discuss that.

It's a game. In real world you can sneak even while someone is looking at your direction. You are using grass, trees, rocks, even only mud or sth or... camouflage. And sometimes you can do this quickly like running.
In game you have flat earth and only standing position, but it can imitate even crawl or jumping on trees ;]
People with low perception don't know that is a tree on the wind, a brahmin or a player when he is at longer range and sneaking

There is always a question: why I missed when i was 1 hex on him and had 95% and he wasn't moving (turn combat) - It's not like: only you are moving and everything is still
Project it to yourself like it was a real time, and like in your suggestion - project like they are not running in front of you.

I'm using sneaking just for mining HQ or saving my stuff when on big encounter - if your suggestion will be added so there is no use of sneaking for me or many players

Fuck.
the only thing I can say about sneak is FUCK
this is thing which devs/forum-mods/players who have any damn experience will support:
fuck.

sneak for now is good, it has its rules, to make it work good you need char which is REALLY weak at other points, its reasonable part of game, not unbeatable feature

you are unable to think out how to beat sneakers (which in fact arent ultimate pwnz0rs) - so your problem is with thinking, not with game
check out the forums, how many stealth topic has been there?

differences from angle of view work right now, workin fine I'd say

lets just permban everyone on forum and game for sneak topics, cuz they are 10x more anoying than sneakers themself

HATEEEE! ;f

Shut the fuck up.
You assume that I made this thread because sneakers are destroying me or something?
I've had no personal encounter where a sneaking person has made me think that sneaking should be nerfed.

It just makes more sense and would add more strategy.
Like I said at the beginning of my post, people would obviously disagree with me.

You don't have to say 'I'm only saying this because I have a problem with my thinking'.

It was the situation up until recently and it made sneak totally useless.

These are merely my suggestions.  I know many other people see problems with sneaking, mainly in looting.
You don't have to heed my suggestions at all, as you don't have the power to anyways.

In the future you should refrain from making suggestions pertaining to skills you have no experience with.

Is it not possible that I have a character with sneak without having played when it was the old way?
