So, every time i walk past Redding, i see "This is a main source of gold in Wasteland.", while i know that there's no gold in Redding.

So what is a gold nugget in the world of 2238?
A rare and kind of pointless item, with some HtH and throwing weapon stats, since there's no gold coins in the Wasteland.

Perhaps there are people, who are still interested in this relict item of wealth, like Enclave or craftsmen, since it's easy to handle and doesn't corrode. Or perhaps they are just interested in shiny paperweights, whatever.

I'd like to suggest a possibility of mining worthless gold nuggets in Redding. Before you stamp this suggestion as pointless, i'd like to list up the use possibilities:

1. For purposes of making fun on "gold farmers" from WoW, mining it day and night, as if it were something worth.

2. Good throwing projectiles for new players.

3. Shiny things to decorate bases (with best regards to Wichura)

4. Heavy quest items.

This suggestion doesn't affect gameplay mechanics in any kind, but has a merely cosmetic nature.

I am still asking myself why these gold nuggets are so shitty and worthless, since 3 big cities in wastes are fighting for it. You win some as reward for controling Redding, but it weight tons, it's useless and sell value is so bad...

yes, people will crave for luxuries every time, and as was already said, gold could be resource for crafting in case of high tech items...

Totally false. If VC, NCR and Reno are fighting for gold, it's not because they need it to eat/drink/live.

Ok, let's say, as we know the Chosen One shall start his quest in a year (if he/she weren't killed by PKs yet) and the Wasteland just discovers the gold as a valuable.

There could be coins start to appear, however it's up to devs, if the new currency would be introduced and if it would complement or replace Bottle Caps.

But, my suggestion was just to be able to mine those shiny yellow stones.

Picture a dirty, hungry, desperate miner with all kinds of phobias (especially Pkophobia) and paranoias, digging through the stone walls of the Redding caves. Suddenly he hits something that sounds diffrently than normal rock. He reaches his hand towards it, filled with hope that he found some hq minerals, and imagine his dissapointment when he finds out that he holds now a gold nuget. He curses a little, then throws it away. He gets back to his digging and then gets his brain splattered on the wall by some guy...  ouch

some quests should require like 50 gold nuggets for VC, NCR or The Hub or something... temporarily increases npc vendors inventories for the next 6 hours... seeing as the town is now "richer"

i agree that we should mine these, and I agree with most of the ideas presented here but gold nuggets should be worth something to someone, and be able to be sold for a decent amount of moulah... maybe with a science skill of 100-120 you can make gold coins? i.e caps.

Golden Gecko Pelts + Golden Nuggets equal = something golden lol?  Gold teeth ? Can implant it with a enough doctor skill... temporarily increases your charisma by 1 for the day.. or until you die and get it taken out by a damn dirty raider!

Im thinking we should beable to craft something with all the golden items we find maybe a new bluesuit? one thats golden beige? +2 Armour Class while not wearing any armour? Gold infused Bluesuit. You wear it until you die.  Maybe have to get brahmin hides too? Use the golden nuggets as little studs in your armour? Not effective againsts bullets but effective against bites and scratches?

Think of all the possibilites of things you can do with Golden items
