Any of you ever play the Myth series?
« on: June 29, 2010, 07:03:17 am »

Man those were awesome rts's. Except for the third one where they released a totally broken game that can't get past the 7th level.

Although they did make better games before, you can't say they haven't made at least some decent games in the later years...  Or can you? :P

i am tempted to say: yes, there was nothing.
since the industry supported 3d cards instead of good storys or gameplay ideas,
there was nothing but useless shit.
a shame, feels like the most games are simply a bad copy, of a bad copy of (mostly noncomercial) good ideas in the 90´s .

Marathon was an amazing series back in the stone age, had a way better plot than halo.

I've seen pictures of it, looks nice. I have a penchant for that kind of bitmap textures bump :D
my favorite was always "point and click Adventures.
i will never forget "broken sword 1" that´s the best adventure i ever played.
and then they made the serie in 3d to destroy everything. (i have a dejavue)
not the first genre that died that way.  :'(

edit: also "baldur´s gate" (yes, the ugly isometric stuff)  pushed me in my couch for many months.

hmm, but you gotta admit, dragon age, and in fact most of the Bioware games are great in terms of story and playability, just speaking my mind...

i didn´t managed to play dragon age until the end.
that was that time where i found fonline. but it seems great, that right.
also bioshok lies here on my table.
the beginning was nice.. maybe its my fault and i should go back to singleplayer from time to time.

last game i realy tryed to play were fallout 3.. after 2 days on high difficulty i reached the lvl 20 cap and stoped playing..  :-\
all the skills and gamemechanics were totaly buged, but we all know that.

hehe and back to the topic (sorry about my digression) i played once a myst part, just for a few days,
i am not so patiently with that super riddles. hardcore logic and all.

Getting DragonAge soon and omg the Mass Effect series is fucking beast...

The combat is run of the mill but the story is as original as it gets and the fact that it can go the way you want it with your actions is even better than going to the movies to watch it. (If you could go to the movies they'd be sold out in minutes though...)

I hated mass effect, you always use the same 2-3 skills and walk around in the same giant mall. The story is such cut and paste bullshit sci fi too.

I don't mean from the original, I mean the generic sci fi storyline. So many games/movies/books that involves evil mysterious machine race bent on killing everything.
