Does having low str cause critical fails?

My sniper has 3 str, 170 ew and 10 luck and i keep getting critical fails using a laser pistol. Now from what I know this shouldn't be possible unless just having low str can cause crit fails.

I'm looking for a serious answer here. I have weapon handling now and I crit fail on my lr all the time, like once per 20 shots. I was failing while I had the min req for the pistol too so whats the deal?

Guys I think he wants a developer to answer his question, really. Not some stupid joke answer. I would like to know this too.

Now, I remember Dev saying in a bug thread that there "is no problem here", and that is all Lexx said, and then closed it. I would like to get a definite answer of if weapon handling really makes all aspects of firing a gun increase with the +3 Strength that it should give.
