Speech skill

I have some idea about speech skill - it could work somehow like diplomacy in heroes of might and magic. Let say you encounter rogues or highwayman, before fight you have a notifier, that with your speech skill you succeded to negotiate, and rogues agreed to let you go for some amount of money, and you can choose if you want to fight or what. when you meet let say NCR patrol you could ask them for ammo or medicaments, maybe you could use speech also to convinve lone wonderer to go with you.

Just some idea, maybe you can improve it.

We already had such a feature (Parlé) and players hated it, it was deactivated soon.
I liked it, but what do I know... :P

peacefully skills should be more supported but that seem to be a question of general gamebalance..  :-X

Speech -> Lower merc prices, and/or more powerfull mercs. Has been talked about, should be done.

+1 Speech is indeed fucked up in fonline. Speech should determine the attack of hostile humanoids so lets say 100% should be pretty decent (70% chance of success) It could be used in quests for lying/persuasion like in Fallout 3 ;)

Afaik barter only increases barter time... But please do correct me if im wrong, il start pumping up my barter if its so
But true, barter should decrease merc prices, speech should just increase their lvl/hp/skill

Afaik barter only increases barter time... But please do correct me if im wrong, il start pumping up my barter if its so
But true, barter should decrease merc prices, speech should just increase their lvl/hp/skill

None of that was implemented, im talking about barter prices when buying items from npcs.

Not exactly increase, scale with speech. Like if you start a leader character, that charisma stat in itself guarentees, that with enough cash(alts) you can be just as deadly at lvl 1 as lvl 21. Sure less hp, no fighting skills, first aid, outdoorsmen, etc, but you can carry same 4 mercs low level -> end level.
So basic idea would be to nerf starting mercs, so that you cant just start a "sniper"+"leader" hybrid, you need to actually WORK so that your mercs are effective. This way you can still be a good taxi if you spend your skills on outdoorsmen, still can be a fairly good SG char if you spend skills in SG, or even BG for that matter, BUT at the expense of lesser merc effectiveness, but opens up a new route, where you spend all skillpoints in speech to get better mercs, that compensate for other skills.

no shit people can't shoot anything at lvl 1, but who is this lvl 1 char who is willing to risk 40k on a char that can get one shotted by anything. Your example is totally unrealistic, no one would use a lsw at lvl 1 either. Plus if someone was stupid enough to have muties at lvl 1 you could take him out with a 10mm pistol and bam there goes all your money.
