Tags have been removed, they are replaced by personnal text in your message box since last wipe. So it's normal that you don't see them.

Well, whenever you are stolen by someone, if guards spot this you will have a message that you can kill the thief (X has been spotted stealing...).

Usually its like ''[Your name], it looks like [Thief's name] is interested in your items''.

ahh yes for the benefit of the less informed, that would be the normal procedures, i meant for the theif hunters...now you cant pick them off the "shelfs" unless it happened to you or to someone close by...

it was always something nice to look forward to whenever we drop back to town, to hunt a few thieves for stress relief....

or put a tag for those who only failed an "X" number of times....and gets reset when they get pked.

One of the problems is some people will shout out that someone is a thief (and they aren't) then when you attack that person, the guards attack you. There are the "PRENTEND THIEVES" who try to make you think they are stealing from you trying to get you killed by the guards. Additionally theives piss me off the most while I am bartering already have the item on the bartering table just about to hit the offer button, and then they steal my shit. The NPC I'm bartering with doesn't do shit about it, even though that person has effectively stolen from him. I think that theives shouldn't be able to steal shit while bartering or while a person is looking at thier inventory, because you are directly looking at the items that a person is stealing.

And if someone steals from you, then your just screwed because the moment you kill him the guards take all thier shit. Maybe someone can answer me this, If I steal from someone when they're unconscious to I get a thief tag on me? Usually they die to quickly for me to find out.

A simple fix would to have the guards SHOUT that someone is a Thief in a Unique Color.

yeah the other thing is that they shouldnt be able to steal whatever is ON the bartering table only the ones in your inventory. that would be "appropriate".
As it is guards dont shoot at them anymore and its OUR onus to shoot them....

the "x" number of times and not being able to steal the bartering table items are good middle grounds for both parties, as you can still cry wolf for kicks or really steal from the inventory( for those real thiefs) while the common folks still  have to watch out for those not tagged yet or for their items not on the bartering table...

warnings from the guards should apply only when a steal attempt succeeded as there would already be a separate "x" count started for failed attempts for tagging.

Is the issue with cyrillic characters still present when it comes to notification about thief? I remember it wasn't properly displayed earlier.

Nope, you can steal safely from unconscious characters.

Some thieves have so high steal that they basically never get caught. All you can do is run away, it's pretty silly that armed to teeth warrior has to run away from a thief. Most annoying part of thieves is that the thieving process is completely braindead bussiness. The thief just checks people's pockets, takes items and if he fails he might get shot and die but he has nothing to worth losing. Players must be allowed to affect their personal security and thieves must be allowed to affect the success of thievery. If I know someone is a thief, there has to be a way to make sure that he absolutely can't steal from me. If you know someone is about to pickpocket you, is it possible that this dude succeeds if you keep constant eye on him and punch him in the nose if he comes too close?

Because of thief-related faggotry I've started to plasmagrenade thieves on sight. The guards may shoot me but I got nothing to lose.

LOL , but seriously the "X" count system should work with any thief levels as it only registers failed attempts as per their lvl.  As ALL succeeded attempts should be reported by guards. In the event of master thieves. How far can they run as they can still be shot? The other thing would be to "cap" the number of successful attempts per day for master thieves by inserting a increasing variable to reduce their % success after the "cap". The other thing to do now is to disable the looting of the "shot by you" thieves by the guards.(if it hasn't already been done)

Guys do you realize that once you use steal no matter if its fail or not you are flagged? And flagged = free to kill.

I've used steal to check what my gang mate has on his brahmin and without even trying to take anything I've leaved stealing menu. Right after that I've got msg that said "You've caused trouble in this town blablabla...". It works the same in NCR and everywhere else too. So in the end you can kill half of the NCR "citizens" without any response from guards because sooner or later almost every bluesuit newbie there tries his luck with steal skill.
