Name filter when buying from vendors.
« on: April 29, 2010, 02:51:53 pm »

Hi.
I'm sure many people also have the same problem, which is that when bartering you have to scroll the item list for like 20 seconds to find something you actually need.
Almost everytime I don't have time to scroll it all through, so the window dissapears. Even if I somehow manage to find the item I'm not fast enough to buy it.
My suggestion is to place a name filter there - in example, we write ".223" in the filter, and finally - we only see the items we need :D. .223 ammo, .223 pistol, maybe even all the weapons that use .223 ammo? (would be more complicated though).
Thanks.

This is 100500 topic about the problem. It is not solved yet not because devs want us to suffer, but because of difficulties with programming or smth.

just raise your barter skill to extend bartering timeout, it has been mentioned 1000 times, and now you suffer for the way you create your character (with low barter), and its not a reason to make suggestions because of that.

Indeed there are ways to avoid that, but still the name filter would be very useful.
Why not? If the devs will find free time and get some ideas how to do this, they could make our lives better :P

why not? with like 15% in barter you would be like "hey i need flamer" "k its 1000" "i take for 200" "no its 1000" "well dunno" "so you take it or not" "well i need combat shotgun"... so current system sounds very reasonable to me. and its good that you have disadvantage in bartering if you are not skilled in it.

Barter time is hardcoded into engine, AFAIK.

Vedaras, if you go to a shop, do you have to walk through the entire building looking for the thing you need?
Or you just ask someone where is it placed?
Even if you aren't a nice guy(FOnline: low charisma/barter), the shopkeeper MUST tell you, because that's what is expected from shopkeepers.

And if it stays like this, even if you have high barter skill you have to scroll for 2 minutes, and someone can steal from you. You move away, talk to the barterer, start scrolling over again. The same thing happens.
