New Reno "guards" and attacking NPCs in northern towns.
« on: January 02, 2010, 03:50:08 am »

Attacking NPCs in reno are terrible, they rubberband you, they waste your ammo they do everything but kill you.
The moment you're surrounded by NPCs you can do nothing but kill them and lower your rep, but wait there are even more of them waiting to jump into that spot! If you don't run out of ammo before you get out lucky you!
So now you've gotten out and 20 NPCs are following you, how do you exit? Well you run up and down the street 5 times until you get just enough range to get out the exit grid.
Reno should either be full on guarded with strong guards like NCR or not guarded at all, being swarmed and annoyed while trying to PVP is not fun.
Other towns: Why does the Den, a capture town have guards at all? same with Modoc and it's one guard, remove all the bloody guards from PVP towns.

Noone "PVP's" in new Reno, just assholes who camp the spawn. Tough shit if your spawn camping is hindered Tim Bob.

Perhaps you should start using your head the way it was meant to be used and enter through a non-default entry zone? That way you could discover what's going on in the city (because yes, there's a lot of PvP in NR and some of it is actually good) instead of getting killed at the grid, lol.

NPC's shouldn't be together in Reno. At least the hookers which fill every street. I don't mind Mordinos ganging on someone, but the hookers litter the streets. They do have a strong bond together, rushing you like that ;D

delmores right. You could say "well dont kill npc then" but as any big gunner would know this isnt an option sometimes.

Something has to be done about this argo npc's, maybe reptuation could only have an effect in guarded towns?

I don't know, to me this makes sense. Big guns aren't precision tools, that's their drawback. You use heavy guns on a crowded street, expect to hit someone.

And a team of whores without weapons starts attacking a 200hp minigunner... this makes sense :D
Street hookers shouldn't be in a team of their own.

The issue isn't hitting people, the issue is how the people attack you.
From both a game play point of view and a ~*roleplay*~ point of view, a bunch of barely armed guards, the single guard in modoc and hookers attacking you is wrong.

Yeah, but then again so is nobody reacting to people getting repeatedly shot to death outside their homes. If Modoc's prepared jam a shotgun in your face if you have sex outside of marriage, I'm pretty sure they'd react to murderers.

I figure it's just a case of reassigning who the 'guards' are. In Reno it would make sense that the goons outside and within each Casino react, as well as the pimps and the drug dealers. People getting shot would not be good for business for any of them. As for Modoc, I'd suggest the Caravan guards, maybe Grisham and Jo. The guards are meant to be protecting their caravans, and Jo and Grisham are defending their homes. The fact that Modoc of all places is a PVP hotspot is kind of crazy to me.

None of the northern towns should have guards at all, towns should not be between unguarded and guarded, the guards do nothing to any player in armor aside from cause annoyance.
Redding, Modoc, BH, Klamath, The Den and Gecko should have no guards what so ever.

trying to pvp in almost any of the "unguarded" towns is a major pain in the ass due to all the fucking NPCs running around attacking you, blocking you in and making you waste ammo and time

seriously remove NPCs attacking

This is making PVP in many towns impossible for large numbers of people, why do the guards even exist in these towns and why isn't anything done about it?

Regardless of the 'roleplay' aspect of it the game is based around pvp and these angry unarmed children are just a pain. killing a single guard in modoc should not mean that i can permenantly no longer enter the town without being swarmed. Case and point i entered modoc earlier today as a bluesuit and was rocketed by an na member(6 times.. soft) and escaped north where i was then chased, lagged out and swarmed by all of modocs citizens. i had to stand there for 20 mins punching citizens (who were doing 0 dmg mind you) to clear a gap and every time a killed one another would rage and take his place, it got to the point that even the cows were coming out of their pens to have a go and the dead were reviving so i got fed up and i just logged off.

so what we have right now is a game based around pvp where any pvp in designated aeras leads too an eventual swarm of npc's with no other pourpose then to lag you out and pin you in a spot forcing you to waste your ammo. leave the guards there but dont have them perma rage, if you hit them they attack but if you leave city for any given amout of time it should reset.

Edit:: Npc's also have fov defying vision, modoc guards attacks me i punch him and the guys from the store, jerky hut and church rage on me, i hit them then the guys further north rage etc etc

How do you enter through a non default entry zone?
