i have downloaded the files from link 1-2 pages back in this thread, also when i run game there is no info any files are missing,  i just get turned back after i press "enter" key,    i have set servers to what they suppose to be (ip and port are fine),  i am getting connected but at "authenticating"  i just stops.

Edit: Do i have to register account somewhere else than during character creation?

  i'm having the same problem as some other people, everything is working fine, i make my character and all that but when i click play it show's the loading screen then just goes back to the menu with 'connection established, authentication...'

got a problem, i was playing just fine this morning, but then i had to update and now the game is not even launching, when i click on play the screen goes black for a second and then it goes back to the launcher.

Try to change in FOnline.cfg "PatchDatPath=fonline.dat" to "PatchDatPath=faction.zip"

- Update the drivers of your graphic card.

I updated my graphics card driver, but I'm still having the exact same problem. Tried reinstalling too. Anyone has an idea what to do?

So I recently downloaded this game and updated and configured. But when I try to launch the game a grey screen comes up for a second then it dissapears and nothing happens. Some other people have also reported this but for diffrent error messages. I looked through my files and saw that there was a log.

Starting FOnline (version 0282-91)...

Engine initialization...
DirectInput initialization...
DirectInput initialization complete.
Sprite manager initialization...
SpriteManager::CreateNewSurf - d3dDevice->CreateTexture(w,h,1,0,TEX_FRMT,D3DPOOL_MANAGED,&tex,NULL), error<D3DERR_INVALIDCALL - Invalid call>.
Load sprite egg fail.
FOnline engine initialization fail.

From what I see it is having trouble loading a sprite but I do not know why. If I may ask kindly, can someone help out?

I did the important stuff on the recent changelog but it is still doing the same thing.

Which resolution are you trying to run? Windowmode or fullscreen? Test 800x600 or 1024x768.
What graphics card do you have? Which OS?
Try re-installing DirectX 9.

Oh well, then it might help someone else that has the same problem, I've seen this before, and it's usually because of using a non-standard resolution

I found this game while looking for info on Fallout New vegas, broke out my old F2 box and installed to try to play this, but the above issue still exists and I did check my video driber version:

I had a problem on Win7 - can't launch the game. So I fixed that problem by changing in FOnline.cfg "PatchDatPath=fonline.dat" to "PatchDatPath=faction.zip". Also, my game installed to desktop.
Now it works fine.
