What can we do - Server Popularity?
« on: June 05, 2013, 11:09:32 am »

Having just started again after not playing in over a year, I noticed that the server populations are quite low.  Is there any certain period of time people stopped playing?  I personally love all the new changes, so I doubt its that.

Anyways, perhaps we can come up with some ideas to get this game more popular!  Perhaps posting on gaming community sites; I have tons of friends I showed the game to that played Fallout 2+ and had never heard of this; and they loved/are loving it as well.

If an arrangement could be made with Betesda, I think steam greenlight would love this game as a free to play.  I personally think Betesda sees that this game does not hurt their market; if anything it might bring some more fans to the genre.

So, what do you guys think?

I know you guys don't like doing this, but have you guys thought of doing a server to web api for a refer a friend system?  For instance, tie a character from the server to your forums profile, have a link generated for players to refer their friends, and then reward them like 100 caps for each friend they refer?

It woulden't be that hard to work in, but I've noticed you guys try and stray away from giving out ingame items.

Nope,2238 players would exploit a door if it would give them any kind of advantage.
That's the reason most of "fun" got removed.

Contacting Bethesda would probably be a bad idea.Imagine people who only played Fallout 3 coming to this server and then asking wheres the fat man.

But the whole other forums and word of mouth thing could probably work, probably.
Just everyone's too lazy to do it.
Also there's the fact that TLAmk2 seems to have brainwashed people and now they can't make a forum post without refering to it.

For a very long time there was no reasonable alternative for 2238, so there was no server to make brains washed. And then, all of a sudden, russian server, filled with exploits, dual logs, dirty tricks, blah blah, sucked out 2238's population and attracted unknown number of dudes wanting to try Fallout with buddies.

It's not that TLA mk2 became woohoo so Wunderbar. It's 2238 that became worse and worse.

Wasn't the only thing that changed, before TLAmk2 became engrish, the stimpak staling nerf?

So basically you don't know what you talk about because you don't play the game since a year or longer
(before we even started more or less regular updates after last wipe and a few months of hiatus).

I propose devs to make spam bots and attack every big forum with 2238 ads.
