New Flamer Attack Mode

The current "burst" fire mode fires in a line. My suggestion is to have another firemode called

Spread, or Spray or something along those lines.

It will fire 2 hexes far, and 3 hexes wide from the target. Damage distributed evenly simulating an even sway of the gun while the trigger is held. Make it more useful for Multiple close range enemies, like it should be.

Also would make it more fun, and more viable in combat.


Perhaps make it only for the improved flamer.

Maybe make regular burst single shot (affected by fast shot) and burst mode shoot 2 rounds for 10 ap

This definitely isn't the buff improved Flamers need and would only help attack Mantis.

And molerats, and melee attackers, and close range bursters..?

This actually would help with a surrounding force. Being able to attack a HORIZONTAL line of opponents rather than a LINE of them.

So you mean if 3 melee attackers come, and stand in a pretty little line you might need this? Since when does 165 damage (DR/DT not applied) going to kill a melee crit dealer before they kill you....

I just think that it makes sense that someone holding a flamethrower may wave it back and forth while spewing fire to:

1) Convince enemies NOT to attack the person holding lethal fire
2) Deal splash damage to enemies in a different pattern that may... in certain situations be more helpful...

Is it hard to think of a scenario where a horizontal splash damage would be helpful?

it should be 360 degree ring of fire.

now seriously, very wide and short cone, why not. would be interesting, but it would be better if targets were burning for a few seconds.

alkso the pyromaniac perks should be reworked to add damage in %. so they can be used on molotovs as well. 25% for each rank perhaps?

360 fire would be interesting. Builds designed to get in the middle of frays and 360 fire ? =p
