So I decided to mess around with a bit of slavery on my new character but I don't understand how many follower's you can have.

At the moment I've got 4 charisma (as I said I was dabbling in slavery) which means I can have 3 followers (wiki said charisma -1)

Anyway, I have a brahmin knocking about at my tent and tried to get another to sell and it said I had reached the max amount of followers.

Does it count player's you are grouped with but have gone offline? Even so I should have room for one more follower, or am I over looking somethng... Do I count as a follower?

you can have only 1 brahmin even if your charisma is 10.

you can have 2 slaves + number of mercs. eg: if you have 2 mercs you can have 4 slaves.

you can have as many mercs as your PP lets you. check party points with ~pp command. usually they takes 70pp each.

companions works same way as mercs.

dogs same way as rest of followers. they require 35pp if i remember correctly

p.s just another quick question. If I'm the 'leader' in the world map moving from place to place  and my friend has 2 slaves does that add on to my limit or does it only affect them

It adds to your limit and it also increases the encounter size, just like real players do

But you can take another additional brahmin for each 2 dogs you have.

Party Points are effected by Charisma (10pp/1cha) Speech (1pp/3%speech) and certain perks.  The system is almost solely around PP now, as if you don't have the pp you can't take a brahmin no matter how many dogs or such, and vice/versa.  With things costing what they did it is possible to get 4 followers that are merc or traveler quality if you max out speech and get all the perks for it.  Though if anything has changed in the last month or so then most this math could be wrong since I haven't done much with it.

You can take a brahmin even if you are as pretty as fire hydrant. The only problem you'll have is your incapability to move on worldmap with him without beer or mentats. Same goes for 2 slaves (Though not sure if 'Loner' trait affect slaves).
