Gallon is 4L, so when americans say gas prices are too high they are really complaining about paying half of what it costs the rest of the world.

It's no secret the US has always paid less for gas than the rest of the world.  So when we complain about gas prices, we are complaining about prices in relation to what we used to pay.  In recent recent years gas prices, groceries, health care and general cost of living have all increased, while salaries for average people have either stagnated or decreased depending on what industry you work in.  We also do not have the public transportaion system that Europe has (like high speed trains).  You could take a train from NY to FL, but it would be cheaper to fly or even drive, so noone even considers using it.  We may have lower gas prices here in the US, but there are plenty of things we don't do right that other countries excel at.

And gas prices where I live in FL are about $3.15/gal give or take.
