Some dick licker stole my name so I didn't feel like idling in NCR anymore. Maybe after the next wipe if I can get my name back I'll be idling there again.

I kind of have an idea of "Idling" is. clue's in the name.
But, last time I visited NCR, the map marker was orange instead of green, had a big red X through it, and when I went there, I had "Idler" in red letters in the top left of the screen as if I'd been irradiated.
I'm still relatively new to this game, and you don't learn if you don't ask, so I am asking.
I can't be expected to know things right off the bat if most interactions in this game come down to getting shot in the face.

The orange circle means someone just died there and you had Idling Timer.
So you became Idler when entering it. Such people have PvP penalties inside.
The system is made to prevent fast relogging to (another) PvP character
to smash someone.

"NCR idling" has nothing to do with the new Idling Timer system.
It's just standing in the town and not doing much and it's more like "social status".
NCR idlers are highly regarded for their persistence in standing for no reason.
