Hacked Accounts

<< < (4/4)

Sarakin:
Its hard for me to believe, someone is even trying to "hack" accounts of a free, multiacc game.
If kitties friends know how to hack accounts, would they be so kind and share that knowledge with devs for better FOnline ?

@T888 - IPs can be pinpointed to a single provider and designated city(area) of service. The odds are becoming quite thin.

What do you expect in this video game everybody hates everybody, people have betrayed eachother base raped bitter about PvP losses it really doesn't suprise me.

And yes this is true IPs are pinpointed to the service provider and no information further unless it is a corporate IP or a IP belonging to a business. Military IPs can no longer be tracked to point of orgin with common protocols such as whois. Service providers do not give random people information associated with IP address either and usually people have a password and have to verifiy an account to change or ask about the information.

Look if you guys are worried about people cracking accounts you have to make complicated passwords with uper and lower case letters and numbers and use the max character limit, when you do this these cracking programs well take months or years if somebody is doing this with just one computer.

Swinglinered:
Or have a lockout after 3 tries with 1 day cooldown, unless you email the "key" to a bot that can unlock.
Have that key also able to manually lock the account if you will be away for a while.
Plus email notification of failed attempts.

The key would be 20+ characters long and will have to come from 1 of 2+ email accounts you designate ahead of time.
The bot would also freeze for the associated account(s) after 3 tries to input the key, with 1 day cooldown.
In case someone tries to freeze your key/bot (which would require spoofing the correct email address) by deliberately failing 3 tries, GMs could have a paper list of ID info they could consult after you contact them, and use that to reactivate.

Or have all of your good shit hidden in a base/tents with custodian alts that no one ever sees, so the names will not be known.
