I've read a little bit about shotguns from searching related threads here on the forums, not sure how it stands right now, but after looking on the wiki it appears that both CAWS and Pancor Jackhammer have the 'Accurate' weapon perk which adds 20% to hit chance. This is understandable since the bullpup design makes it easy to handle.

Just a thought, but I think the Pancor 'jackhammer' should also have the 'Penetrate' perk, which reduces targets damage threshold by 1/3rd.

It would also be nice to see a special function added where you can drop the drum off it and turn it into a landmine trap, with high enough skill in traps, and at the cost of a full magazine, 8AP and then reload time, possibly with a cooldown of 2 mins, where the trap dissappears after that same amount of time if it has not been set off.

Maybe with these changes people might use shotguns as a class for factions.

double the range and it could be useful, short of that shotguns are the unwanted middle child of small guns. Also whoever decided shotguns are short range is an idiot, shotguns are effective at up to 120 feet.

Disease:
Even though I'm new here, I probably couldn't agree with 50% knockdown, at least if you're talking about for more than 1 round or even just being knocked down and then standing again right away..

I do think it would be nice to pay homage to the Pancor, since the most use it'll likely ever see is in this game, it would be cool if we could do something to make it more useful.

As for the idea about adding the ability to use a full round to drop a trap, the trap could look like one of those bear traps that already exist, though maybe with additional damage or increased leg breaking capability.

I change my mind, I think it should have knockback instead. 50% or 100%, this gun is deserves it, shotguns have never been anything good for PvP. However, for PvE, in its current state, I do think it's okay. I also think it would be fair since frags have 100% knockdown/knockback chance, and only 4 AP is required with BRoF.

Ranges are all compressed to fit the maps.
So it is limited relative to the other guns.

Perhaps slug ammo...
