Sierra as a more populated location.
« on: September 17, 2012, 02:09:58 am »

This location barely has anything special inside it besides the workbench. We could add a few things to make it a more populated place, because some people really do like Sierra.

So here's some ideas:

- Robots in Sierra can drop resources such as metal parts, junk, electric parts. Weapons such as assault rifles, sniper rifles, rocket launchers, miniguns. Ammo such as 5mm, (Both JHP and AP.) rockets, (Both Exp. and AP) .223, etc etc.

- A requirement to do business in the location for certain Quests.

- More use into the Science and Repair skill, able to take control of the robots and have them serve you. You would first have to destroy the robot, then repair the robot, then use science on it. Small chance of success.
PP requirements:
Eyebot: 35
Robobrain: 70
Sentry bot: 90

- Or we can have it like a location like Ares and Glow, lockers can be lockpickable for good loot, while robots should strongly defending the area from any raiders.

- Or a new type of base control, unlike the RU servers, there is no reward like loot and such from a chest/car. Instead, you would be able to take over Sierra for any means like a roleplay project, the turrets and robots would serve you and your faction members. (But won't follow you into the wasteland.)

Fine with most of the idea minus higher level loot being dropped unless it's only a few robots that drop it
Robot followers have been said no to many times, stop asking  ;D

I never wanted robot followers, I am satisfied with other followers and there are enough ingame already. I'm just finding some reasons to make this location more popular.

But he said they would not be able to follow you to Worldmap. I like the idea because it means you won't be able to control all robots, or control them AND have other followers at the same time (of course there are still alts and shit, but whatever).

I like the idea in general.

As I said, i'm just giving ideas for the popularity of Sierra. This doesn't need to be implanted, all ideas are separate.

Yes, but we were speaking about destroying the robots then using repair and science on them. They would act like normal companions/mercenaries/slaves. Which I just suggested for the hell of it.

You speak about another idea I have for Sierra, the Base Control, I got it from the original RU servers and edited it a bit. Control of Sierra would have no reward of items from a box/car. It instead offers protection from the robots for any use, roleplay project, making the advanced workbench for faction members, friends, whichever. Controlling the robots ways on such as shooting on sight, shooting armed people only, shooting enemies, not shooting anyone at all would be operated at the 4th floor computer on the top.
I think this idea would bring a lot more interest into Sierra at the most. Would bring much more PvP, roleplay, game, and whichever!

Being able to capture Sierra and use it as a public and kinda safe base? I am all for this!

Ok, please go to the Mariposa 4th floor. I'm betting not a single person outside their faction/group has crafted ANYTHING at mariposa for the passed week.

Another thing, I never said it could be used as a base, the robots aren't even that strong. Only for the advanced work bench, that's all.

Besides advanced workbench, toxic caves and sierra are just as useful.

Those ideas, that is such a waste of time if you ask me. Need some good reason to go there, some assrifles won't gonna help, neither do some chance to repair some robots, quite useless.

About the robots dropping items, they could drop some unique things. (Robo rocket launcher, low damage rocket launcher, but has actually has a magazine size.)

Also, noone has commented on my 4th suggestion on Sierra, making it like Ares and the Glow.

If you don't like my ideas for it, feel free to make your own within this topic.

Keep in mind that a place like sierra isn't pvp friendly environment. It has lots of entrances without previews and monsters spawning who aggro randomly.

If this kind of location is desired to be made a place of interest, it has to have fair amount of safe spawns and non-hostile npcs. A location is either pvp or pve, can't be both.

I think it can be. I was in Glow many times and always when I spotted enemies was funny(sometimes we were fighting for hours). McLooter's idea is good, we have many empty locations. Adv. workbenches were good things to bring some life and pvp to places like Mariposa but everyone chose Gunrunners with their "safe" workbench(to be honest it was the most dangerous workbench for me:>).

Examples of failed mixed pve and pvp locations are ares and new reno sewers.
I have no experience of glow but what I've heard is that a single build can easily kill the robots but if players interfere it's a problem.
Sierra robots are numerous and shoot rockets so they are much worse than glow robots. The turrets just pop back alive every 10 minutes and cover a wide area instantly with their firing range. They might come back alive right in the middle of pvp and affect the winner.
Pvp and pve mixed doesn't work because the npcs randomly turn on either side of the pvp participants, causing pointless randomness and interference.
