Bursting question
« on: August 15, 2012, 06:59:09 pm »

I haven't play fonline for while and I was wondering have the bursting change? If I remember right when I play the hit chance for each bullet out of a bursting gun drop per bullet.  So if you had 95% chance then next bullet would be lower hit chance.  Some people got very high pe and gun skill to increase amount of bullets hit.  So is this still true? or how does it work now? would it help to put in more skill even if your max range burst is at 95%?

1hex: 100% of your hitchance hits
2hex and beyond: 33% of your hitchance hits.
your gun skill only increases your hitchance, not your damage output.

If I were dev I would make it linear or even hyperbolic/exponent.

your gun skill only increases your hitchance, not your damage output.

That is for most burst weapons but not all, for example shotgun bursts don't spread.

so your saying if i have 95% chance at 1 hex, each bullet will 95% hit chance.
But if am 2 hex or more away I will have 31.35% hit chance with each bullet if my hit chance 95%
so when you have 95% hit chance at max range then it does you no more good increase your skill for bursting.
Because it wont increase amount bullets hit?
Am I getting this right?

No. Some dev posted formula of hitting tablet.
1hex you can hit with 100% ammo but each bullet has lower chance to hit
2hex and more --- u shot 1/3 on left, 1/3on right and 1/6 in target and now u Have chance to hit additional 1/6 ammount of bullets in target. Every next bullet has lower chance to hit target

First of all as far as i remember (If bullet hit formula wasn't changed for some reason) chance to hit affect every bullet in burst. And each next bullet has lower chance to hit target. So nothing changed here.

But if am 2 hex or more away I will have 31.35% hit chance with each bullet if my hit chance 95%

No, you'll have the same 95% chance to hit. They meant that 33% of your burst will go from the left side and 33% from the right side of target you bursting.

for further clarification: 1hex is maximum damage while ranged bursts have one third of the damage. However, there seems to be a random variable, especially when the burst can not be divided by 3 as with the lsw for example. In that case, most of the time you will hit with 3 bullets but sometimes with 4. hitting with 2 or 5 bullets in a ranged 10shot burst can happen as far as I can tell, but it's a rare occurence.

To answer your question, there is no point whatsoever to have more hitchance than needed. Most people also tend to ignore the targets AC as well.
