is it at all possible to take screenshots in mapper?

Well, you can use the normal PRINT key and paste your screen into a paint program.

In Windows ALT+PrintScreen captures only the active window.

When placing tiles in mapper, if you place a tile over another, is it deleting the previous tile for the newly placed tile?

Does the old tile need to be deleted b4 placing the new?

If you place a tile over another, it will not delete the previous tile, but only the top one will be visible. Of course you don't need the bottom one, so just use #ClearTiles command to get rid of it.
