PAs in game?
« on: March 28, 2012, 10:38:00 pm »

As far i read on the forum, there are a lot of wishes to be able to use Power Armor.

I suppose, this thread won't be different in this matter except for a minor detail.

The suggestion of mine is the ability to "skin" Brotherhood Paladins to get Salvaged Power Armors, which are broken and even while fixed wit advanced materials, won't be able to make their wearer run.

This way, the wearer will have the advantages of a Power Armor at the cost of having a major disadvantage being only able to walk. In PvP, this will means, a PA minigunner will be a slow fortress, a easy target for snipers, a bullet target, but will also give more significance for Field Medics, which will easily keep track with him and support him in battle. A loner in a salvaged PA will be condemned in Wasteland.

Of course, bad reputation with Brotherhood would be guaranteed and it will be surely not easy to farm, so i'm sure as hell that there won't be crowds of PA lolodins running around.

Already suggested zillion of times, just without the walking thing. If you introduce such malus, no one will wear PA except M60 users. PA is not some godlike armor, even while wearing, you are prone to bypass crit or any kind of negative status effect easily.

actually it could work fine together with m60. I honestly dont see why not. With separating them from the actual, "running" PA's the latter are still available for gm abooze

Sarakin and John Porno have the point.

The SPA is supposed to be worn by BG tanks in PvP and soak up damage by being a attractive, troublemaking target, a shining, expensive, but retainable flagship.

And my intention is to make emphasis on teamwork by maintaining that heavily armored artillery with FA and ammo, since SPA gunner cannot run, but is worth the trouble by his firepower sustained by his high combat timelife span.
Superstimpaks? Ammo? Will be reduced by the sheer weight of the armor.

A PA with intact servos, perhaps.
We're speaking here about a Unpower(ed) Armor and it's just a really heavy piece of shiny, protective metal.

A completely different armor.

I simply quote myself
The vault dweller joined the brothood of steel and by helping them he gained a power armor then he saved the world. The choosen one ventured to the old military base and found a power armor which he later changed to an advanced power armor and saved the world too.
Why the hell a noname wastlander should be equal of those 2?
We are playing a regular wastlander not the vault dweller or choosen one.
Power armor should be only available if we would be able to start as part of Enclave or BoS and gain from lots of lots of work. We can join them but it doesn't mean we were part of those groups so they should never give an armor like that.

Players should not get Pa or Apa.
Though its not a normal PA since it would make the player unable to run and all but I still think there should be no way to get one as an outsider. If there would be a way to start out from npc factions then I think it would be natural that BoS and Enclave would supply their long time serving members with an armor. But since there is way to join them only and not to start as member. So I think that still no player should get any armor similar to those.

Given that the work of the players are not used as models, and half of Fallout 2, it makes the game monotonous and boring.
I'm not saying that you need to enter the PA as it is. You can reduce its resistance.
Ranger armor has been available before, now there is - I'm not talking about her craft, I'm talking about the possibility to get it entered in the fraction of NKR and doing the quest. The impression that the game of intentional trim.
