Define "freedom of speech" though and name your source(s).

Freedom of speech (at least in the US) only prohibits a Governmental authority from engaging in activities or legislation that prevents free speech.  IE, can't make laws against bashing Jews.

However, this does NOT apply to private property, which this server would fall under.  Meaning, the people that run it set the rules... and if they say bashing Jew's is not allowed, that is not them infringing on your rights.  You are still able to do it, just not in THEIR backyard.

Then there is the international thing as well, though I'm not sure how that would apply specifically.

But mostly, Dev's server, Dev's rules.  Not a free speech issue in the traditional sense.

My opinion? I would ban that kid just for his own stupidity,if that is all...maybe after few bans,people would more take care what they say...or maybe instead of ban,take him something for valuable. That would pi** him off more that everything else

You are totally right.If i remember good,once a guy named FUCKRUSSIA was banned for racism by a GM.So,this might be the case too.If it's not,mate,this is no hello kitty.This is hell,this game is pure sadism.You know you will face scum whan you log on,you must be mentally prepared and give no fucks about that.

Freedom of Speech
The right of the people to speak out against government tyranny. This is a right all people have in all countries and can be seen as an obligation even more than a freedom. However, not all people recognize their own obligations (or freedoms) so many people erroneously think it's just a USA thing.

Then there's the people in the USA, who over time have been led to believe it is a right to simply "speak your mind" about anything. This is a deception however, as nobody could ever have that right. In fact many things that are said should never have been said, and some are so bad that justice systems will penalize you for it. One person's right to not have their character unfairly attacked, for example, can be justly defended in a court of law and that's when the "i have a right to say anything" people realize they don't actually have such a right. The "founding fathers" of the USA wanted to make sure the people here knew they had a right to oppose tyranny, even if people in other countries don't realize it. It has nothing to do with your perceived right to have crappy music blaring too loudly.

Marko is right about the "freedom of speech" thing. But to a certain extent.

I'm not saying that devs or mods or whatever can't limit speech. They can do whatever they want.
But I don't support telling someone what they can and can't say.

Personally I think the guy did overreact because no one really knows who you are on an online game so who cares what he says.

i think that in this game te only way to controll it is if the agressed person car prove that it was a racist insult and not a joke, via screenshots and all means posible, then they should ban the cahracter. as in a ropeplay game here in my country called AO.

if you insult somebody in a mean way(like: yo fucking jew go get some gas) and they get a screenshot of you saying that and of the previous conversation. images are sent to gms and they ban your character ass outta the server
