The anclav guy - revisited
« on: February 28, 2012, 08:13:50 pm »

Remember this piece of crap?

Well I did, and I wanted to try out how much progress I had made when I was reading and watching tons of drawing-tutorials for digital drawing in my last vacation.

He made a magic transformation and turned into this:

I finished the old drawing in 2010 shortly after starting to draw.

I had tried out many different techniques and learned and raged alot in those years. I'm very satisfied with this current new drawing, but yeah - it can always be better :)

Good Work!
What software are you using?
Did you do that with a graphictablet?
And can you recommend some tutorials?

Bit hazy but god damn it's good.

Are you going to other drawings of characters?

Thank you guys :)

Photoshop CS 5

Yes a tablet from Trust. They ain't that mega hardcore precise as the Bamboos from Wacom but it's good enough for beginners.

This guy has much good tutorials http://psd.tutsplus.com/author/martin-perhiniak/ . I also liked the technique of color-blocking. I kinda used that technique on this drawing.

Are you going to other drawings of characters?

As soon as the mood gets me again :) when I'm drawing I always need 100% mood for it or else I start something and never finish it (The Guardians can sing of song of that :) )

the animation is just a quick slideshow of every saved image I did when I took a pause on drawing. No skill in putting images together ;)

Still it shows the progress nicely :).
On a side note though I like the end version I gotta say even the one before the finished one in the gif looks real good and could have been the final one.
Really nice going there.

Thank you :)
I must admit, I got a bit lazy because I spent so many evenings on the picture and when I wanted to do the shoulder parts I screwed up some PS settings and couldn't figure out how to restore them which resulted in the shoulder part didn't turn out like I imagined and after 2 hours of painting over the shoulders I said "screw it, it's done" ;)

I did a more in-depth research on the PS settings now and I hope something like that doesn't happen again.
