Is New Vegas considered as canon by Fonline 2238 team?

(1/2) > >>

Reiniat:
The title says everything, also it maybe belongs to off-topic but im not sure.
I really wanted to talk about this since New Vegas came out, but i believe that is better to wait until most of the players finish the game, a few minutes ago i just finished the fourth principal path so i think now i can talk.

We all know that FO3 is NOT canon, depending on some opinions the game is good or not, but it is not canon, But what about NV? It is a direct continuation of Van Buren events and it was developed by guys from Black Isle. So, my opinion is yes it is canon. Now i want to know what other people think, especially the devs.

Also, there are already Powder Gangers and Dam patrols encounters in Fonline but those are relationed first with Van Buren, among with the Desertstalkers and the Radtoads. Maybe we shouldnt even care since NV happens in 2281. (However Van Buren happens in 2253 and i dont remember any file saying that the Dam was controlled by the NCR or someone else in 2238)

PD: And please dont make this a 10 pages long quote treath about a two or three guys discussion, make your point and let others achieve their own conclussions.

Let's say that it's accepted. Content-wise, I try to avoid it if possible, but only because I don't think we have to care about it that much (currently). Like you wrote, FNV is set 50 years later and also the game mainly cares about New Vegas + the Dam, which is only visible on the very right side of our worldmap (the Dam isn't even visible).

About the caravan, I've added it some time ago, because I find it highly unlikely that nobody would send one to this place. I mean, seriously. The Hub, Boneyard, etc. are all in the NCR but Vegas is not? Even though Vegas is like the closest of all? Rather strange, but oh well... Anyway. The caravan isn't a government issued caravan. It starts from Shady Sands, but features no NCR soldiers (well, at least it shouldn't- I am not sure right now if this is the case).

Btw. yes, this stuff was added based on Van Buren. FNV wasn't released yet at this time.

Reiniat:
thanks for the fast answer, never noticed that the city-scape at the right of V15 was in fact Las Vegas.

FrankenStone:
everybody knows that obsidian especially sawyer took a lot of the van buren concepts for NV and hell yeah i like it . fallout new vegas is a solid fallout game a huge different from that outstanding FO3 shitty game , i hope they will bring fresh ideas and new factions to FO4 maybe the chinese communists against the ncr or high tech faction that is comming from europe

Swarm:
I don't consider 2238 as any canon, as its a player made mod.
