Ability to buy Robots
« on: December 16, 2011, 10:39:51 am »

We can buy slaves, we can buy mercs and we can buy cars.. So why not the ability to buy Robots? I would love to be able to buy a Sentry bots. Auto cannons would be great as well.

Edit: How about making it a profession?

I have a very rough layout

Robotics Expert [1]

70% Science
 90% Repair
6 Intelligence
4 Charisma
1500 caps

Instructors

Navarro - Dr. Schreber or Jefferson
Brotherhood of Steel –Jenna

Robot [1] craftable items

Floating Eye
Auto-cannon

Robotics Expert [2]

100% Science
120% Repair
8 Intelligence
7 Charisma
3500 caps

Instructors

Navarro - Dr. Schreber or Jefferson
Brotherhood of Steel –Jenna.

Robot [2] craftable items.

Mister Handy
Robobrain
Gun turret

Robotics Expert [3]

130% Science
150% Repair
10 Intelligence
9 Charisma
4500 caps

Instructors

Navarro - Dr. Schreber or Jefferson
Brotherhood of Steel –Jenna.

Robot [3] craftable items.

Sentry Bot
Robot Dog

The added need for Charisma would be because some of the craftable robots will count as companions. They would require alot of electonic parts, small energy cells, micro fusion cells and alot of other material.

Like slaves and mercs you need to provide them with ammo and weapons, but for the sentry that has built in weapons, but still needs ammo.

Auto-cannon and Gun Turret can only be crafted at a faction base. You make it and place it in your base, they count as a companion but they don't travel with you.

Robobrain would need a slave or merc (for the brain) and biogel
Robot Dog would need a Dog and biogel.

Since a Sentry Bot is very powerful, it takes up alot of your companion slots. So you can't have 4 Sentry Bots 5 if you have magnetic personality.
They could also take up many slots in vehicles so they can't travel in buggies.. Or make them so they can't travel in any vehicle.

All robots would need to be repaired with tools. No stimpaks (no brainer) but for robot dogs.

Can also add Pulse grenades to Energy or Explosives.

This has been brought up before... robots first off are rare in this game...

second, if Joe Mechanic could make robots for sale they'd be a lot more common...

This sounds rude but I think this idea is kinda L to the A-M-E... lame, lizzame....

Robots are retarded anyway, Mr. Gutsy for the win? Get outta here

Robutts? Again?

As random encounter dropping good metal parts, electronics or ammo around Sierra or Glow, yeah, please, but not as mercs. Way too weird if everyone will have a trashcan in tow, like at SAD they put a discount on them.

I am new to this forum, if there is a search, I haven't found it yet.

I was thinking more for Base Defence. They could be rare. Make them cost several thousand caps.

I always thought that, if they could not be "bought", they could atleast be repaired/reprogrammed.
Auto cannons would be great as well.
You mean, Space Marines autocannon? ???

I think he meant turrets.

Well, over there on TLA they had maintainable base defenses, what was quite interesting.

I see it, now. Will do search from now on.

As for Robots and Auto Cannons. I was thinking along the lines of base defence. So you don't have to leave mercs and slaves behind to protect it. Can just go and buy a sentry bot or a couple auto cannons.

I understand Robots are rare, but so are cars and yet there is a guy that sells all kinds of cars in Reno.

I wouldn't say cars would be rare, plenty of rusted shit around the wastes, and it is not very hard to make a car (one that runs, not with fancy electronics)

this had been sugested a lot of times before, and i allways supported the ideea, but the devs allways rejected the ideea, since robots are a lot rare in Fo2 and Fo1, they are a lot in the other Fallout games, but FOnline is based on the original ones(=whitout robots)

True, that the robots implementation idea was  suggested almost as often, as the question about "when is wipe" and "will we got 3d after wipe", but there wasn't those, which actually fit the canon, and thus all of them was declined.

Though I have to mention, that there was some good news for those who're waiting for robots to be implemented:

At some point, robots will be available.

I think it says it all.

I won't close this topic, because it may turn out having some decent ideas. But I recommend those who suggest something that was suggested before, to read the previous topics about the same thing. Keep the discussion going, guys.
