neat idea, working on the railway as an alternative to cleaning after brahmins either.
Maybe it's just me, but I prefer to see fallout world as an post-ap wild west, not mad-max car thing.

I think this is awesome. I mean if we can all run around making high tech weaponry, who's to say that someone in the wastes, even a town's scientists, can't figure out how to create a train that runs on SECs. I think this could be a great alternative to shoveling Brahmin shit. And after a certain point, when enough ore/metal parts/wood have been donated to the cause, the railway can actually come into effect so all the players who contributed to it can actually see their hard work pay off.

Really good idea , but remember we can't have animated trains, we even don't have some graphics for a train, so someone has to do it. :/ I really like the idea, but remember that it's more work than just posting the idea. ;)

Maybe it doesn't need to be animated, just static, like cars, caravans and so are now?
It can be something like steam loco and some wagons, like this one for example:

However, railroad is kind of competition for my double Pathfinder perk :>

Actually we have cars and etc. So i think that no problem with some static picture of locomotive in one place. For example in Reno is one old Railway. So one static picture, one small script and for example 3 main towns and we will be have new kind of transport in town.

Situation in Reno

Yeah you don't really have to have an animation. You talk to the NPC, get on the train, and the only movement shown is the red marker on the world map moving along some line. I guess if someone really wanted to, they could make an animation of the train leaving the station and arriving, but that seems like too much work for something purely aesthetic.

If you have alot magic aura, you need pay twice, or your aura will affect steam engine, also undead and animal companions must stay. Also if you know such spells like: Disintegration, Fire Ball, Chain Lightning you, may be, can't use trains.

Chain Lightning was so nerfed las update noboty takes that anymore, I remember frying some goblins with this stuff. Good times, good times.

Train would leave every hour (you'd have to stand in special guarded area with a ticket to get on it) and stop on 4-6 stations on each road between cities for like 10 minutes (change the time if it's wrong, because I dont know how much ig is how much irl) so the trains could be robbed (wild west yay). The trains would be guarded though by some npcs. Locations of the train mid-stations will only be known to players with high outdoors who almost once used the train. That's my idea, it's stupid, don't read it, go and kill other players NOW!

I hope it's NOT vertibird taxi, that would be ridiculous
