We will change the way explosives are working in the future, so suicide bombings will still be possible, but much harder than right now. Can't say when exactly this will be in the game, though. Just wanted to drop a line and tell that we are trying to do something against this issue.
Something like... Demolition Expert needed to operate explosives?

... But it wouldn't need skillpoint investments, just a certain level and quest to get it? That would be great.

But this would make traps skill useless when it comes to explosives. Too limiting, imo. We have plans to change the bomb activation mechanics. If I'll find the time, I might write something about it on the blog.

i like the idea of suicide bombers but i dont understand why you arent shot on sight for activating a bomb in a guarded town. furthermore, the whole planting a bomb on a player and them getting a 8 minute replication timer doesnt make sense. the 8 minute timer is there for suicide, but now for murder in this case.

Dynamite only use is griefing, timer is simply unusable in PvP fight (well, maybe it could work, but it would need an AoE three times bigger...) I see only two way to make explosives finally useful:
Ability to set up traps (at doors)
Add mines and plastic

But having only actual dynamite is pretty much useless in PvP.

What if I said I can alone plant bombs on people, animals, and slaves and use them to make a big profit when bombing people with gear to loot without me dying or getting harmed whatsoever?

And have been doing so for  the past several days.

It's a good situational weapon.

Scenario, redding mine has been invaded by a pk gang and they hold both entrances very heavily guarded.  Every team you send down there ends up dead, but you refuse to give up.  What do you do? 

you have 2 choices.

1.  Spam frag grenade slaves down there to allow your team some time to come in.

2. Dyanmite Bomb the shit out of them while they're grouped together, and one of them will likely try to loot you after the insta kill, so thats 1 character literally killed altogether for the remainder of the battle more or less.

This same concept is good for normal grid camps as well, seeing as either they will insta loot you without paying attention or you can quickly get within range or take an odd route in order to reach them.

I can agree it isn't meant for general pvp but dynamite as ALOT more uses than most people seem to realize.

All of which, sadly, are strictly situational because of the mechanics of the weapon.

True. That's why I believe the best way to fight dynamite trolls is to try to control the NPCs who sell parts for a detonator and give the demolition expert profession as much as possible. It would be just one more little reason to control a town.

A few thoughts.
Mmm... and if instead of "No, he is a guard, i will be fucked for sure if i activate an explosive" what about "I roll my Sneak skill to determine if i can activate an explosive if someone sees me"?

I see a new possible abuse danger in this. Sure, it's harder to level up a sneaker enough to make it really useful (with current sneak use), but at some point you will be able to easily continue suicide bombing like it is in the moment. After all, it's not very hard to level up a character. It just needs a little dedication.

I know, but the fact that a guard is in there doesnt mean that weapons-explosives cannot be used. Guards will attack if they notice, nothing easier. Just say NO because guards are around is like making a zone where simply you cannot use weapon.

Well, see Dynamite right now. It needs a second to activate and explode the item. No guard is fast enough to react in this short time, so the bomb explodes in any case.

Now, with the rules written in the blogpost, you can use the explosives, but you have to go out of guard range to be able to activate the explosives and then you go back... and try not to get killed by guards who might have noticed the activated bomb. The detection grade still depends on guard perception and skills, etc. You only aren't able anymore to ninja-explode a bomb at your target with nobody being able to intervene.

Well, there is a solution. Add a minimum fuse duration of 15-20 seconds. I dunno if this will really solve the problem, but atleast there wont be a NO-WEAPON zone.
