I've never seen these "companions" that people talk about, I am supposed to look in unguarded cities' bars or they're just really rare?
I'd like to keep one to help me in PVE and guarding tent.

they are in guarded and non guarded towns. they are rare thou. people have alts just to find them,

A couple questions about perks.
Spray and Pray negates all critical modifiers on all armor on every untargeted shot but not the chance to score a crit?
Hit the Gaps is a perk for aimed shots rather than bursting and always negates 25% of any armors critical modifier but not the chance to score a crit?

yes it negates the modifiers, but they modify chance to crit and severity of the crit so it should increase your chance to crit. Im assuming this based on the description since both chance to crit and crit rolls are both "crit modifiers"

non aimed attacks are usually heavy handed builds so crit boosts are useless, even with an aimed shot crit hth build i'd never take that perk as 25% of the armour modifiers is like 2.5%. That or it reduces the armour modifier BY 25% making it usually 0, either way if you are going up against anyone geared you won't survive long enough to punch someone twice, even crit builds do pathetic damage compared to real weapons.
