There are different opinions expressed concerning the state of affairs in the north, what best describes your personal experience there?

Complete Hellhole: only endgame pvp teams should even dare enter.
Pretty Bad At Times: at certain times or instances the area becomes unsafe for most players.
Recommended For Skilled Players: if you have a decent gun and you can handle it well you're good.
It's All The Same To Me: not much grass left on either side of the fence.
Hidden Paradise: if you can reach it you should, its 99.9% asshole free.

What the northern towns are REALLY LIKE...
« on: July 18, 2011, 05:12:39 am »

For a while I have been debating a move to the nothern towns to escape nonpunishable stealing, however the wildly differing posts regarding these semi-mythical lands are varied and I am curious as to how it really is.

I've seen up north become a complete Hellhole but I've also seen the same happen to the southern areas. There's really no "asshole-free" wasteland. ;)

I voted for the last option.

There's only a small chance a random asshole will show up, you only get PK's if there are players, and PK's get bored if no one is around.

If you will find a group to hang out with in Klamath or any other northern city you will be cool. You won't have to bother with thieves because no one bothers with stealing when they can shoot instantly.

Weird poll options.

The nature of the town depends on its conquerors. And even if so called antipks control it they might mistake you from enemy or some pk might show up when the faction members aren't present.

Last one.
If you are lucky enough, you won't meet anyone while wandering on North. Especially with current players count ~200 in peak. Random bored FPS players can be met anywhere, but you can have fun without being disturbed by AI guards.

These days most northern cities are controlled by friendly factions. Check pip-boy before you enter and introduce yourself ingame.

If you're in a PK faction like me i'd suggest avoiding those towns unless you have some buddies with you in case Anti-PK decides to try and fuck your shit up.

Otherwise you'll be pretty safe if a friendly faction has control.

Boring ghost towns on south with good trades and militia guarding north cities makes game action too boring.
it looks like "glamorous wasteland" instead hard and interesting life...
We can see New Reno without any militia or town guards and there are a lot action there.

This bullshit about militia again? I don't see any militia in Modoc or Klamath, nor at Redding, Gecko and BH mines, and yet, not much action happen there.
There are not enough players to fill all towns, that's all. So everyone just meet at Reno to slaughter each other.

I beared in mind that there are a lot guarding cities in wasteland now with good and rich trades.
Players can play in game without any fighting etc.
First of all in New Reno we can see good trades (drugs, weapons, cars) and people coming there (of course for fight too).
But we have nothing to find in Modoc or Klamath for example.

It is not cycle economy so Players living alone in their small zones of wasteland. It is REALLY NOTHING TO DO in another cities.

(Of course for 500+ online that's can work but it is deplorably to see 3-4 bluesuits near grids in 5+ guarding cities and 2-3 guys staying from the back of militia...)
(it's a way for small action and safe life like in majority mmorpg games...)

As for me its apparently

(and no bullshits about militia...it is not a main idea...)
