Make timed explosives throwable, like grenades!

I have been trying to find a way to use timed explosives in combat, for player killing and for exp. It seems impossible. I really like the idea of timed explosives and I'd like a way to use them in combat somehow... They are one of the most fun weapons to use in the game! The the down side is, they are highly situational and hard to use in PVP or PVE combat.

Maybe if they were throwable like grenades, you could set the timer for 3-5 seconds and throw them. Then you could use them for EXP as well as hunting players. They are heavier then grenades, so would have atleast 5 Str requirement for throwing, and range would not be too great, the same or little less then grenades, but far enough to keep the thrower safe from the blast.

Hah! I can see this being highly abusable by demo/thrower alts with 300 traps skill raping everyone in pvp and pve  ::)

If the plastics explosives use remote control, like requiem, will be usefull im pvp.

I find this very enticing, but I see it being a very abuseable thing...  Planting 3-5 explosives in some place where it is impossible to see it (RIGHT by walls, behind unseeablethrough map decorational pieces, etc...) which would be completely unfair.

You guys are willing to scream "ABUSE!" for just about anything! What about suicide bursts in town? What about how timed explosives are allready used(suicide bombings)? Couldn't you also scream abuse for that? Wasteland is HARSH, and most of us like it that way  ;) It would be a boring game if everything people considered "ABUSE!" was removed... Restricting the game and removing features, is not the answer.

I dont see how throwing explosives 10 hex or so is overpowering when you're fighting against 50 hex snipers and 16ap BG builds. You will need AP to arm the explosive, and get in throwing range without dieing from an LSW burst, or before you get blown up by your own bomb. I see no reason I can't throw a bomb the same weight as a brick, 10 feet.


I agree if they add plastic explosives with remote detonate, Traps will be more useful and maybe even possible to lvl with.

Putting aside the abusable thing, we need diversity on battle.

Let's get add more characters than the always seen, sniper, burster, rocketers, sneak and merc leader.

The problem with plastic explosives is, that you need visual contact of your planted bombs in order to set them off on time. Not to mention, the more plastics you got planted, the harder is to remember which remote controller operates which bomb. Lastly, Im pretty sure its easy to implement red glow of planted bombs, that is visible even behind objects and walls (if it is not already implemented). So Im for introducing plastics.

Throwing timed bombs seems ok.

It could be, countered as well by :
- Opposite trappers
- A kind of combat armor, that have bette resistance to explosives.

CA2 allready beats all armors in explosive rezistance

If I remember correctly, Solar said something about plastic explosives will be used in Domination. But I imagine this will be more of a strategy landmine type of weapon, if it is in Domination.

But if it goes more like the suggestion in first post, then imagine the chances of actually being in a situation where you can throw it - you can't just wait with an active explosive for a player or else it will explode before you have thrown it. And, once the enemy starts coming at you, you would have to take the time to set the bomb, and then throw it just before it explodes so that it doesn't just stay on the ground after you throw it. And of course, the timing couldn't work in TB, if something like this could be used outside of Domination.

But since alot of people like to draw parralels between real life and Fonline, it should be known explosives have been heavily used in such abusive ways described here. What difference would it make if someone has X ammount of mercs set to autonuke in an encounter as opposed to several snipers with this new legal aimbot that feels like Counter Strike before VAC and steam?
