So I downloaded the client off one of the official links, I run it, link the master and critter dats, link all the music etc. and then it says it installs to ProgramFiles/FOnline, but it doesn't. It only goes to the 'Programs' folder, and there I can only see a Launcher, Uninstall, and Website link. Clicking Launcher opens the client, the play button doesn't work, Installing it just does that installation process again where nothing happens, uninstall just closes the window.

I looked on the help threads and guides to installing the game, and it keeps mentioning configs and updaters, I didn't get any of that in the download, just a Client or whatever it's called.

Do I need to download additional files or is the game having problems or what?

No, there didn't seem to be an update option anywhere

Downloaded, only one file, 'FOnline2238Client 19 11 2010'. No update. I ran the client, installed it again, linked the dat files. It makes a FOnline folder in the 'programs' folder (NOT the program files folder, like it says it does), I open the launcher or uninstall it creates and its a shortcut to a file that doesn't exist, so I have to link the client to it, then it just runs the client, the install button is grey but I can install it again anyway. The play button is red but doesn't work, can't even click it.

use "Find"?

It should have a green arrow icon.

Nope, my FOnline folder has:

Launcher
Uninstall
Website

Clicking launcher or uninstall asks me to browse for launcher/uninstall.exe so it's obviously not creating the files properly. Have I got a dodgy installer or something?

Also I did use find, I do NOT have an updater.exe

by default mine installs to c:/games/fonline

When I first got the game, I didn't get an Updater.exe by default because it was back in the days when everything was bugged... I forget where I downloaded mine.

I tried this and it worked, the files extracted correctly, when i chose Program files like default there wasn't any loading or progress bar, it kind of happened instantly. When I chose desktop it loaded when I copied music and unpacked the rest of the files.
