Hinkley | Dealing with teamkillers
« on: May 22, 2011, 02:57:38 am »

In the event that some player decides to attack another from their own team, this player should automatically be removed from the battle.

With the current system, it's quite hard to tell if they did it on purpose, or they forgot that you were on their team because:
The tagging resets once they exit your screen.

So first fix that, then there could be some feature.

90% of the team-kills are probably because of the bug... or Hinkley is full of much more trolls since the last time I played there.

Well there are some problems with this....

Bursting someone by pure accident (They got in the way) rocket splash at bad timing, etc.  As long as only direct hits on team mates kicks you out it should lessen the abuse by alot, or at least make it a lot more challenging.

@dishonest abe Dammit I didn't read your post before posting I just double clicked as usual cus sometimes it doesn't register the click for some reason...  turns out it registered both.  *facepalm*

no, it wont make those guys stop.
if you kill someone of your own arena a horde of rats will spawn and kill you shouting "die" or "pray to the ken raat" or any other idiot line, believe me this will stop they (or make a new game mode at hinkley)

about Michael,... they need to see before of shoot!!!! you cant randomly clic everything you see.
for Abe, come on, it completely idiot to forget your teammates names, i never do it, even in big battles. ok exept when they have cirylic name.

If you are playing with your friends, then yeah, it is stupid to forget. But if it is like an 8 vs 8 or more battle of people you don't know, and people are constantly switching sides to keep the balance from people quitting, that bug can be very confusing.

I never said that, I simply stated it could be friendly fire from a burst or rocket.  Say, I am just about to burst this guy with my minigun as my ap recharges, my ally suddenly charges the enemy trying to one hex just as I have enough ap to burst.  See where I'm going with this?

I wrote this post , referring to people who intentionally shoot their own teammates, seconds after entering the arena.

then youre right, namecolorizing need to be fixed for change while teleporting to fighting map

then your friend is the idiot for charge in front of your line of sight,
Its a problem in all the games that you are fighting against a random guy and a ally runs to your enemy cheering like Rambo with his M60 and you unintentionally blow his head with you Dragunov, and then he become mad and kill you for all the time left to the game overs. in the postapocaliptic America you should attack in a defined frontline and take care of the friendly fire by dont interfer with your friend LoS

Gorlak your right, then the best solution is the RAT HORDE!!!!

okay, it seems I've been misunderstood, when i said :

I am not speaking about accidental hits during combat, which is in itself, unavoidable. I am talking about trolls who just want to grief others, and attack as soon as they teleported into battlezone. I thought this was quite obvious.

That's the problem though!!!   How could the game tell the difference??

The game knows well enough to colorize these players, who have been in the same room. Should be simple to implement something which would recognize an attack within same group of players during x amount of time after entry to battleground.
