Hey all - I thought I'd give this place a try after hearing about it on the other game I mainly play. I've always been a big fan of the Fallout universe, so knowing there was a fan driven engine mod to make it work online, I had to take a look!

Contrary to reputation, I've had a friendly welcome so far and a great time (although I expect someone'll decide to splatter me with a missile launcher sooner or later - no biggie) . I think I'll level up a few times, and then see about helping some more newbies like myself.

Hi everybody, just started playing today and, I'm wondering: How do you retain players? I've spent maybe an hour in game and I've been pk'ed, and killed by "non-hostile" vault city guards. Is this a game balance issue, or is there something that i missed in the advice for newbies section of the wiki? any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you were killed in Vault City, you probably tried to enter the inner city, which is only for
citizens and people with day pass.

In encounters keep your weapon in 2nd slot when you travel and don't come too close to
the NPCs, or they will turn hostile. Also remember sledgehammer is a weapon.

The game isn't really that hard, you just need to know what can kill you, the issue is that
very often it's not obvious for a new player.

i was out in the wilderness, but, my weapon was equipped so that's probably it.

Guards will shout at you to hide your weapon, but they give only a few seconds to hide it, so
I think it's better to keep it hidden. You can press "B" to switch between item slot 1 and 2.

Ah right. You definitely don't want to loot anybody if there are non-hostile NPCs in there,
not until the combat is over.

You have to wait until they finish looting, then you can take whatever is left. Don't do that
near players either (if for some strange reason they didn't kill you right away) if you don't
want them to go apeshit, looting someone you didn't kill is basically stealing.

Hello everybody,

Figured after a month of playing and also using the info on this forum it's time to introduce myself
I wish I had found this game earlier – it seems I came in at a bad time..
Anyway I like the game so far, although it seems pretty grindy
Still on my first char since I don't have so much time to play but I already have been told ingame that one char isn't enough.. But I guess that's one of the Fallout games characteristics, playing them over and over and over and I like it.

So hollas to all of you, especially those who are active, see you in game^^
Oh, and thanks to one player who's name I sadly can't remember...Few wekks ago, female char, went hunting centaurs with me to level up, thanks again lad/lass
