Unbelivable
« on: May 15, 2011, 01:09:23 am »

This game is sick, i love original fallout 2, but this mod is so... i dont know which way to put it is just sick, people killing other people in towns, places guarded by "guards" that do nothing, and they just shot you for fun, there is no place for new players i tried it belive me i tried to do everything but, ive started to roll this almost 10 times and in different towns because i thought only some are that way "bugged?" and everytime the same scenario i get a shot in front of guards  in the same second i enter the city, when i am comming back because ive been gathering some flints just to catch 100 bucks to buy anything and they keep killing me and then laughing, i ask where is any fun in this?? Or am i supposed to gather resources 100 times just to let them take those 50 caps from me which means nothing to them because towns are the most dangerous places, this is a mistake i only got myself a headache trying to go thru this and i was so full of hope when i thought of an idea of playing fallout with some friends. I am waiting on some comments because i dont know what do you think about this.

just keep playing. The beginning is hard for everyone. After some hours you will survive, and even with dying you wouln't lose everything. You cannot say FOnline is sick because people are killing you or you have bad luck.
Edit: Stay In Fallout1Arena, Mostly Junktown and Hub. There you can Level up good and There aren't so much Asses

Wasteland is a harsh place to live in.
If this game would have safe places to live in there would be no excitement  ::)

my comment for you is to live in Vault city. Its the only real safe town inside with helpful players living in it. I see many new players starting to live in there, and i didint hear any complains by them. Ncr/Hub were always known for not too friendly actions in towns :)

But this is obviously abusing these are suposed to be safe places, towns with guards and they just sit in front of them when guards are 20 meters away and camp you just when you enter the town even before you get your game loaded to react, make this a 10 second immunity when you enter the town or something i dont know, this is unplayable,i cant force myself to go to the desert for god knows how many times and when i come to the city happy to sell things and finaly get my first caps i get banged.

Btw i cant get inside vault city because i need to have caps and the guy in outer city dont have any caps, so i am grounded with this idea.

Determination is key in this game.  So is:  Trial and error, social skills, and most importantly, Smarts.

You must be determined to get anywhere in this game.

Trial and error is how you learn, unless your smart enough to figure out how the game works real quick.

Social skills so you can make friends to survive and thrive in the wasteland.

Most imporantly.... smarts.  Don't trust anyone, figure out who is and is not trustable, learn the personalities and for god's sake don't invite anyone to your tent!!!  On purpose or on accident!

and these towns with gaurds, you have obviously been going into "PLAYER-RUN FACTIONS" That are in control of the town, and the gaurds are their militia.  (I prefer just calling them gang-thugs cus that's how they work....)  The players in control of the town are in control of the "militia" so they can pretty much do whatever they want until someone else comes in and stomps their asses in, but then that gang is in control, so the cycle goes on.

All the towns to the south past New Reno are GAURDS BY NPCS, this means "NO ONE" can violently attack you without being shot by the gaurds, this however does not mean you are totally safe because alot of people are suicidal killers and will burst you to death in the middle of town.  ....  Stay away from them.

For one time I agree with vedaras that places like Vault City or other uncrowded ones are really better to achieve the "FO2" feeling. Shady Sands is definitevly a place where the trolls dwell and you don't want to visit that town.

I think there is something the author is not telling, because if the guards shot you, then you did something wrong, like hit a protected player or try to steal from an NPC. Unless you are Vilified, then there is no way that the guards are shooting you the second you walk in the town. And if you are Vilfied, you did something bad to make you become that.

If other people did not die after attacking you, then you became unprotected from either thievery or unintentional blocking. Dying will make you become protected again.

If you don't want to go all the way north to Vault City, then Junktown might be a good choice as there aren't usually as many people there, especially at night, since players with factions aren't allowed in there at night.

Ok ive been to gecko when they instantly shot me, this abvoiosuly was the gang you were talking about then i went to vault city and it was peacefull but there are no traders with ammo or caps, not even bank or anything and i dont have the pass to get anywhere further, then they blow me up in shady sands when i was happy standing at the merchant, that guy obviouslt was suecider, then i was attacked on the road, shit happens he blew my head off, but the moment when i surrendered is when i went to scout to broken hills to see how its holding up, i saw lots of guards, good merchant, 0 crowd and i was happy, so i went into wastland gathered eq worth 200 caps and wanted to come back but i got one shoted by a guy before my game loaded and he just came to me took everything and smiled. Thats how it was.

In this game, this scenario(s) is totally believeable  ;D.

Go to VC, Junktown, Hub for starter shit.  level up, etc.  try to make a few friends, keep in close contact using something like... idk, skype, Mirc, mumble.  Get a tent so you can store your shit too, that's first and foremost.   then just kinda explore, level up some more, do what you want, get equipment, kill loot-mobs, and when you're set start up with pvp.  If you're good at it this won't take but two or three days of no-lifing determined play.

You're doing it wrong. First you need a tent, if you cant get caps to buy hides then you'l need to kill some brahmin. Two ways to do this, either you put in in turn based and kite them. hit them once move away and they dont have the ap to walk and attack you.
Or
Put it in realtime and wander around vault city until you find a vc patrol vs ghouls or something. run in circles until vc kill all the enemy and LET THEM LOOT once they are done go and pick over the scraps chances are you can get a gun or two this way. Now use gun to hunt brahmin.

Hiding your brahmi hides in town is often safer than carrying them with you.

Once you have a tent you have another choice:
go kill some mantis geckos or whatever repeating the run in circles thing whenever you need gear.
Or instead of this rather nubish tactic you can craft some guns, this is definately the way to go if you arent a small gunner.

So now you have a few levels and a decent gun, go find a vs encounter but this time one without the friendly troopers in it, stay at the back and pick off anyone who comes towards you whilst trying to thin out the forces so that the survivors are nearly dead. Kill them take all the gear and bobs your uncle.

You are now on the road to being a wasteland badass.
