I am not being sarcastic, the game is just so much more interesting before you get a base with more gear than soldiers of the old world.

Update or not, wipe is good to keep players actives and the game dynamic.

The suggestion of cyclic session, with a growing of technology until a big battle and a wipe at the ed, was definitely a great idea. I hope we will get something like that someday.
