+1 char vs magnetic personality

Messed up at beginning and took 4 charisma. Taking either +1 charisma or magnetic personality. Being I have 4, at this point I can have 1 merc and 1 friend. If I take magnetic personality does this mean it adds +1 merc spot...so I could take 2 mercs and 2 friends?

with 4 ch u can lead 3 other players OR your merc + 2 people

On your place i would take +1 charisma - it doesnt really make you any difference which one you choose couse both will allow you to lead 2 mercenaries + 2 friends OR 4 people all along and the difference would be - that there MIGHT (not sure if there is) be a usfull quest that needs 5 ch ;)

thought mercs took 2 spots vs a friend taking 1 in your party?

Both NPCs an players take 1 spot on world map. But the formula for buying/enslaving NPCs is (CH-1)/2, so you can have only 5 NPCs at most, with magnetic personality.

You didn't mess anything, even number of CH is better IMO, unless you take 1. You can get +3 CH with drugs and you need this bonus only when acquiring new followers. With 4 CH and magnetic personality you can have up to 4 mercs. All you have to do is take mentat and beer when you will be buying them. Just remember without drugs you will be able to lead only 4 people/npcs.

you can also take both to have 3 mercs, and being able to lead 6 peopel  :o

take magnetic

2 mercs (3 if you use a beer (+1ch -2pe +5DR)) (4 if beer + mentats)

by taking 1 "Gain charisma" you will take 2 mercs, 3 with mentats
