It's not a "nerf" it's how it was meaned to be from the very beginning.

It could be considered a nerf with nothing else changing about flares i.e. availabilty. Anyway i do agree though, it is silly to have the flares run infinitely long.

As i have seen in posts by Surf ( i think it was surf) it is very tedious to go through the encounters to make changes etc. With the prospect of flares having a positive effect in night-time encounters, would human critters that are hostile against you use them? Then again i probably dont see this coming as stated somewhere before that npcs with low throwing skill run very close to you before using them and that just isnt much justification to boost those values.

Next time when I place a new tree in the NCR, someone will scream "Nerf!" because it influences their FOV in two hexes...

Aww yeah! hold onto your pants people!

But currently it's really hard to get a flare, wouldn't be better to just let it be until wipe, or until traders/crafters can make those?

I've essentially asked about the same thing but its not even being answered :(

For someone they are usefull as they are now, they lighting in your base. Its hard to get them and someone can be happy if he have some. Now tell me, how they will become useful when you add duration of burning ? They will be same hard to get as now, they will make "only colored light" + they will burn only for one hour ... what a useful thing eh ?

I'm not adressed, but in the SF quest, it's possible to reenter the dungeon after you're killed - the flare you picked up earlier indicates where your drop is, so you can pick it up quickly before the radscorps get you. (you won't have to search)

you are a bit short sighted on this and seem to go with the line of thinking that nothing else will change and only a duration will be added. what you should be doing is asking what is going to happen to the way we can obtain it compared to now not assume it wont change. lighting your base isnt the intended function of these items, that is just your choice.

Allright, but when this "lighting" is only thing what to do with flares, why adding some limit for it ? If they have some plan with flares, that they will become really useful, then ok, make a limit. But right now, if they are only for "fun", as coloring your base, why this change then ? Without any sense ...

You complain that a feauture, only there for decorating your base, gets "nerfed", while it is just being changed to something it was planned since the very beginning at the next update. What's there to not to understand?
