Flare Duration?

I have a question about flares when they're "used".

Do they last a specific amount of time, if so, how long? (rough estimates are welcome)

Or do they last forever?

If dropped, will they light up?

If dropped, will they still be lit when picked up? (If pickup is possible.)

They last infinitely. They will light if dropped. Don't know if they will be lit when picked up. My homie made the decorations.

If you have many flares, mind picking one up to see if still lit? would be very useful information for me :P

If you pick up a lit flare, it will still be lit.

Well, I'm not sure if once picked up, they would disappear if they didn't last infinitely.

I know it doesn't make sense real life wise, but this is a game after all.
