Naming cars
« on: March 09, 2011, 02:31:53 am »

[Obviously very low priority, and probably even impossible to make]

Every singe car has a number which is useful for identifying the vehicle. It would be nice to have the possibility to give a name to your car, maybe through dialogue ("Say" option), while buying it, so only the one who buys it can name it.

This way, to identify a car you don't need to use Science on it. If you move your mouse over the car, you would get a message like "you see: Buggy/Hummer/whatever", but if you Examined it, you would a message similar to "You see [car name]"

The same would happen with Car Keys.

Edit: yeah we would get a lot of stupid names, but we already got that with char names, which is worse.

Every single item and such has an id number as well, so why not name our guns with a piece of flint scratched on it or something?  It would be cool...  the way guns look would make it easy to tell difference, at least in inventory.  Maybe when not in inventory it could be "name" (gun's type name).

um, yes to the suggestion btw, pretty cool to name your car if you plan on actually keeping it around.

Yeah I know that. When you said that about giving a name to your weapon, well I thought about Lil' Jesus Mordino's knife, even though it was an unique item, technically speaking. Anyway, naming a weapon in a game when you die and re-equip at base would be pointless, in my opinion. Naming cars would be a more useful and, I think, nice feature.

This is a good suggestion, it can be hard to differentiate your car from someone else's if you share a faction base or a tent, etc.

This would also be great for holding stuff for ransom.

I am in favor.

Perhaps a ransoming system based on the bounty system.

I think this could be cool, but once renamed, it shouldn't be able to be changed. That way, if your car gets stolen there's a small chance of finding it and taking it back.

Randomly created name from prefix and suffix database can do the trick.
That way creating like 50+50 nameparts would probably be enough to supply names for qutie some time.

This would solve a lot of problems. An example you use one base for hunts\pvp and so on. you have from 6 to ten cars there,i have taken myself the cars of my fellow members quite some times. but if there was a quick and easy way to see this aint you car but say Spike1 car.

Then you would know the car belongs to spike.

And as for people calling names bad things, they allready do with chars, but that is more a problem of mental age of players then anything else.

Naming cars after they owner + adding counter would solve abuse problem.
then we will have:
mojuk1       or 3-digit format     mojuk001
mojuk2                                  mojuk002
...
