diminishing kill XP mechanic
« on: January 30, 2010, 10:11:04 pm »

So i recently learned that XP rather being level based as i tought is based on the amount of kills that i made - i would like to ask how does it work from mechanics side ...

is the XP gained for kill depandant on players level ?
are enemies grouped as in the char sheet - Rats , scorpions , mem, women , geckos ghouls etc ... or thaere are sub groups like geckos => silver , gold fire ...
if there are no subgroups then kills for on weakest version also decreases possible XP gained in futer for the stronger subgroup ?
what more ... how is it calcualted ? its something like 10 kilsl = 10% penalty 50 kills - 30% penalty 100 kills - 50% penalty ... is there a limit how far the the penalty can go ?
maybe equation for the xp gained ;]

I do not understand why do you allways need exact numbers in things like this. Just watch your journal and kill list and you can make your own picture very soon. I reached 21 lvl with very little crafting bluild and i still obtain good xp from some critters like floaters, centaurs, deathcalws etc. so do not worry that you get stuck on some middle lvl and cant lvl up on critters...

i dont need to know exactly - aproximate will do ;p

i didnt rly look into it at levels so i dont know how the exp behaves ... ofc i could start new character and go kill scorpions / rats and look how the exp behaves depanding on my level and amount of mobs i've killed. However it still wouldnt answer the question if its same for weak creatures like scorpions and strong ones like deathclaws and floaters.

i know it wont affect me too much there is not much choice of what to kill but i wanna know for future reference if killing weaker versions of group also lowers the exp for stronger ones ... (ah and exp values on wiki are not accurate i got more on some creatures on other less ...)

ok gonna post my recent "check"

i started with bren new deathclaws - never killed any .
I think i started at lv 9 ... yet now at lv 10 i was killing them continously ..
first iwas 1k per one
all first 12 kills were for 1000 exp ..now i ding ...11
the exp on subsequent kills goes as follows - 840 758 707 660 ...
say 16 th kill 60% of exp of original ? wtf...

Level has nothing to do with it, there are no subgroups and the diminishing does not begin from the first kill in a group - you get a few "free" kills before the diminishing kicks in.
