Where did all the TCing go?
« on: February 06, 2011, 01:57:12 am »

I hate to say it, but the is session of FOnline seems to be a mixed blessing, some better features. but alot of the powerful gangs are now just shooting people "For the lulz".

These days the only gangs i see taking towns are the north bandits and the peacekeepers, all the rest are either scared off by the massive militia hordes, or are buying mercs to camp and kill bluesuits, which as it is can almost be called exploiting, given how the mercs are set up to kill people before they load.

Before the last wipe people still had half a chance to take a town in the later hours of the day (For western gamers at least), even if all you had was some metal armor Mk2 and assault rifles.

Now it seems it doesn't matter what you have, given how the mutant campers can kill almost anyone that doesn't have 230+ health and brotherhood armor easily.

So i'm asking, does anyone know where all the randomness went with TC? i haven't seen a bluesuit rush work once this session...

bluesuit rushes dont happen anymore because the devs didn't like it and hated how blues would take towns at any time of day without risk. so they put an equipment requirement on starting tc.

I didn't mean that, i mean bluesuits as and lower level/weaker players, which is how its generally meant. but yeah, i can see the point of that.

It's the North Bandits. They are online the whole day and hit like a steamroller within 20 minutes if some other gang dares to enter Northern towns. It's like preview camping the whole north  ;)

We tried to take Modoc once. But here came  TNB and TPK. And this caused us killed, cause we have no chance 6-7 players versus 20+. It seems many other not so big gangs got the same troubles. So, noone want just feed TNB/TPK with loot tier2+. Thats wy noone want to TC.

I still dont get it why small gangs won´t make bigger alliance or gang together. I know that the best scenario would be FFA gangs, but some gangs have more players than others. To counter this, you need to ally with someone

Well.Ally each other gangs loosing their own "personality" and role in the game. If some big alliance merge few small gang then im not pretty sure that anyone will even know about that small gangs names.

And 2sides fight its kinda boring. Here always should be 3rd side and chance for some small gangs. Or may be not.

One year ago, we had a whole session with this kind of "1 Big Alliance vs 1 Big Alliance PvP". Everybody said it was boring as hell,  major gangs should never restart this kind of thing, bla bla bla.... But the turn of events since our Redding Project led to this bipolarisation again.
Since few days, one side disbanded, but we don't know about the second one. So things will probably change.
By the way I think it's cool to form an alliance, when you meet some trustable and nice guys who share the same vision of the game. It doesn't mean you have to lose your own personality, it allows you and your mates to do something else, being involved in bigger fights, RP,....

Like War, TC/Fighting never changes.

You can only do so much PVP for the lulz before this one trick pony gets dull and boring as hell.  Second, I don't think the big gangs had ever gotten fucked over by the system till the TC glitch happened.  I have never heard so much whining and moaning coming from the "wasteland is harsh support crowd".  Lastly, fighting equipment is OLD.  Fights are always the same old shit, CLJ/Gauss/Sniper, BA Tank LSW/Minigun/Rocket, BA Tank Plasma, etc.  Wheres shit that makes fights interesting like PA and Pulse weapons and EMPs?  PAs can easily be balanced by making it strong versus standard kinetic/explosive/heat damage versus weak against electronic warefare such as pulse and emps.  Such weapons do conceivably less damage to BA or non-electric or non-conductive armor.

Not to mention PA gives 3-4 STR special points so it can enourage different play styles if done correctly.

Why and how?

Keldorn wtf are you talking about ? If youre not interested in PvP, no one forces you to do so. PvP isnt about using teh best guns killing everything single-handedly.

I didnt mean to join one of the 2 sides already fighting, but what about making 3rd, 4th, 5th... side in the wasteland just by merging/allying 2-3 gangs together.

Well in the original games PA gave a str bonus of 3 and apa gave a str bonus of 4.  I am assuming then the rotators eliminated the bonus.

@Sarakin

So the real reason folks hardly TC anymore is because of the muties?  I figured shit got boring since folks have been using the same old weapons and builds for quite some time.

AFAIK most of active PvP players are in peacekeepers or north bandits faction. Fights are about 50 to 50 players and some proxies on wm and proxy taxis. So it is i think at Last 150 logged chars. With overall server population about 300 in high hours i consider it as pretty much everyone is involved in TC.
