legalize unholstering weapons!

is annoyng as hell, in banks, JT and in NCR legalize the unholstering weapons

As annnoying as it is its a nice "little" roleplay feature, the only problem I see is that the warning timer needs to be longer.

yeah when you try to enter junktown with a weapon the guard will tell you you cant right. so you don't enter and the guards will sometimes still shoot you when you walk away. i don't know if its a bug or not but it is annoying for sure.

I'll bet almost every newbie is killed at least once because of this because of their naive newcoming mind.  I know i have, so obviously it is not fine.

It's not the games fault if the players don't read the text in game or didn't play Fallout 2 (where it was forbidden to go armed in the city aswell).

But that was a different system, you were warned immediately before you went into the city, in this game your in the city with gun out already and suddenly screamed at in hardly readable text that doesn't show up in the box where most players go off screen from their character and cannot notice this.

Yes, text in capitalized red letters is barely readable, and yes, players all the time just look at their textboxes.  ::)

It's not the player's fault the game doesn't warn them properly, on the lloooong trek to get to the workbench all the wayyyyyy down in inner city they often afk for a quick minute as well to kill the gap in time, is this the players fault that the game induces this?  just give a longer timer and a textbox warning is it too much to ask?

At the beginning you were talking about legalizing weapons in those locations. These are two different things.

That are very closely related.  like cousins.  :P

If the timer and textbox thing was lengthened this thread wouldn't have opened up and if the guns were legalized the timer and textbox thing would be unnecessary.

Dunno if it's possible, but adding dialogue box like

"You're entering xxx zone. Choose:
@ Put your weapon from active slot to inventory.
@ F*ck off, stupid dialogue box"
and some timer, telling how soon guards will shoot you

would be cool.

P.S.: ofc the second choice won't drop timer to zero, so you'll have a time to change a decision and put off your weapon manually.

Nothing more change needed than message first when you enter town and timer (1-2 minute) to put weapon away.

No guns is nice rp feature, but sadly it fails to stop what its supposed to do: prevent impulsive murders. A shooter & looter squad expects that the shooter is killed anyway.

Even if the letters telling you to put down your guns filled your whole monitor and you had speakers yelling that order out loud, there'd still be guys who wouldn't understand what to do.

Might be an idea to have this enabled as reminder text in the lower corner when you enter certain towns. "Remember, in NCR, carrying weapons openly is illegal and you'll be neutralized if nearby guards spot you" or something like that. I suppose such a reminder can be added to Junktown also, so that people won't forget that entering during the night is not allowed.
