Could their timer on becoming aggressive for holding a weapon raised to a few more seconds?

Just got killed twice within 10 minutes for holding a weapon in my hands 2 seconds while loading into the map.
This is costing me tons of shovels! 


Or are we supposed to always have 1 of the 2 active item slots empty and always walk around empty handed?

I agree. People with weapons in hands usually dont steal so they present not much threat to traders. :-)

lol just want enough time to be able to put weapon away + shovels are hardly to be considered a weapon

sometimes i spawn among them as the screen loads they start shouting "dont come any closer" and they shoot before i can decide which way to run.

Shovels shouldn't even be considered weapons to NPCs, so that part of it is a bug at least.

I think this whole "Put your weapons away" in a random encounter is just a remnant accidentally brought back after the last wipe, and shouldn't actually be in the game.

And if it is intentional, it is quite a useless, just annoying feature.
