A brain surgery quest or a function for reducing alts
« on: October 30, 2010, 01:40:37 am »

So... The idea is that if there was some game mechanic that allowed one to destroy his alt in favour of giving his exp to another char would be awesome. Just think about it... People will get rid of their alts voluntarily. I remember a quest in fallout, that allowed the player to do some brain surgery to his or her merc in favour of making a robot. This feature, if implemented, should be carefully thought over, so that players don't abuse this feature. Some hard quest or a rare object or a lvl requirment should be used. The procedure should kill the alt (permanently) and offer all/part/random% of the victims experience to the other char.

This idea wont reduce alts at all, Id say the opposite. People will start making easy-levelled alts in order to lvl up other characters.

I agree, Bulldog must be crazy if he thinks this will reduce alts instead of people just making an SG burster leveling it up and then creating a sneak character with the xp.

the only way to reduce alts is to registar an account rather than a character

in that account there would be a number of slots caping the number of characters..

All players caught with more than one account per ip would be banned, simple

Yeah, like it's that simple...

Hasn't the forum been through this enough? It is technically impossible.

So... only 1 IP address ever. What if you move houses? What if you go to a different place on a vacation? What if you go over to a friend's house to play or something? What if you have a house you go to during the summer, and another one for other times of the year?

So many possibilities that just prevent something IP-based to just be ignored.

@Suggestion:
First off, I'd like to say that a suggestion shouldn't be focused around using alts at all. Second, as Sarakin said, you could easily just abuse it.

I've already said that there should be some requirements, such as a quest or a rare item or there just may be a high chance of failure or some random % of the alts exp, so that this procedure is just a small benefit for those that have some alts that they don't play and don't mind getting rid of.

suggestion - baaaaaad

alts? The only time when there were less alts was when the leveling up was slower. Heck, even some gangs were giving up on the TC as they were not able to 'produce' enough number of fighter chars.

Man that was great.

Reducing alting - only by making the whole '21lvl production process' longer + providing enough interesting stuff to do BEFORE one gets to the level cap. The latter (quests 'n stuff) is in progress and looks better with every wipe. It's just the xp that is so easy to farm...

I think that they know how to less alts, but then whole FOnline community stop playing and that's not good.
So they cannot do anything for it.

There are plans to change the crafting system.
We will need blueprints to craft.
If that means we can craft everything if we have the blueprint for it, it would remove the need for crafter alts.

Still you'll need 2nd prof for that. As I heard tier3 items will require prof2+blueprint, if you're going to do PvP with your science and repair skills, then yes, you don't need crafting alt ;p
I think mercs should be able to craft for you, actually "mercs" means followers like Vic or Myron, so if you have 3 CH, it means you may take 1 follower at a time with you. If you're crafter you'll take combat merc, if you're combat character, then you'll take SGer or Armorer or BGer or EWer merc, who has lower combat skills than combat merc, but gives you profession ability when he's following you and near you. Also you'll ignore skill requirements for crafting of merc's profession items, if you lack them and skill requirements of all tier0 items. Prof1 mercs should be cheap and weak in combat, Prof2 mercs should be more expensive and a bit weaker than normal combat merc.

That sucks, although with a 4 prof. cap it means you can finally craft all tier 3 stuff for 2 professions, for instance SG and armor.

Still they should get rid of the professions altogether when going to a blueprint system.
Make it so blueprints for tier x stuff can be bought from the npc you can now buy profession level x from.
Also make it so that anyone can buy blueprints.
