Give Mercs aimed shots
« on: January 18, 2010, 02:57:02 pm »

It's a pretty major shortcoming with mercs. Most are no good for offence, they're just meatshields. Give them the ability to make targeted shots - either randomly or you tell them a specific place to concentrate on. Then maybe mercs will be worth their cost.

Oh, and another thing, get rid of the human mercs that don't have running animations. I don't want black metal armour sledgehammer guy if all he can do is walk. Maybe replace him with black red shirt 'civilian' sledgehammer guy (at least I think he can use a hammer. he can definitely run without waving his arms in the air).

Edit: Also, how about a running away HP-threshold that you can define. When they get below 5/10/20% health they'll start running away. I'd rather save my money than have them always fight to the bitter end.

I think that right now no NPC can make aim shots, due to a bug. Anyway if it is a bug and when it's fixed it would be good to be able to tell your mercs "Aim the legs" or "Aim the eyes", something like a parameter ton set in the dialogue tree. Yeah, it would be nice.
